About Me

Hi! I kindly ask you to scroll down and read 'How I participate in Couchsurfing' before you consider hosting me or requesting to stay at my place. Thanks! 😊

ABOUT ME

I like to think of myself as a good-natured, optimistic, uncomplicated and helpful person.

PHILOSOPHY

War doesn't determine who is right. Only who is left. (Probably Bertrand Russell)

A stranger is a friend you just haven't met yet. (Can't find out for sure who said this.)

On the internet you can attribute fake quotes to anyone. (Abraham Lincoln)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

How I participate in Couchsurfing:

Just to be clear from the start: If you're looking for this (http://www.businessinsider.com/couchsurfing-the-best-hook-up-app-2013-12) kind of CS experience, don't bother to send me a request or offer to host me!

Apart from that, I'm incredibly grateful to this fantastic concept and to all my wonderful hosts who have shown me around their beautiful cities, provided me with a home for a couple of days and allowed me a glimpse into their lives and their minds. I can't wait to meet some of you again someday and to make even more friends around the world in the future! Also a huge thank you to my amazing guests who have made me appreciate the places I call home much more and who continue to discover their hidden secrets with me!

Couchsurfing means an interesting and valuable form of cultural exchange to me, but it also means reflecting about my own attitudes and my belief-system by meeting people outside of my 'bubble' and it means contributing to world peace by befriending strangers instead of giving in to prejudices - which is something that the world seems to need more than ever nowadays...

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES: I'm one of those horrible people who love to talk during films, which is why I basically enjoy any movie (horror films and thrillers excluded) that I can watch with friends who don't kill me after the first 5 minutes. I do have a few favourites though, like Mamma Mia (1+2), Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Little Miss Sunshine and Disney movies.

MUSIC: Although I'm always open for new bands or genres, I mostly listen (and dance) to what I call "feel good music" and that's basically a general term for Oldies (60s, 70s and 80s Pop), Reggae, Country and different kinds of folk music. My favourite bands/artists include: ABBA, Boney M, The Mamas and the Papas, Simon and Garfunkel, Ska P, Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Elvis, The Dubliners, The Lancashire Hotpots, John Denver, Billy Joel, Reinhard Mey, STS and King Charles.

BOOKS: First of all, I love the fantastic smell of beautiful old books! Some of the books I've either found very entertaining or just brilliantly written include: Harry Potter (obviously I‘m talking about the books here, not the author‘s recent public statements…), The Grapes of Wrath, Slaughterhouse 5, the Inkworld Trilogy, Romulus the Great, Othello, Twelfth Night, The Secret Garden, The BFG, Jane Eyre, Watchmen, The Book Thief, Narnia, The Old Man and the Sea, The French Lieutenant's Woman, The Twelve Tribes of Hattie and lots and lots of others. I just wish I had more time for reading...
