About Me

I am a marketing professional with a passion for foreign languages, who live in Calgary, Alberta. I used to be a translator till I figured out that I needed more interaction with people from all over the world. And that's what I really love, to talk to people, to learn about their culture and understand their traditions.
I collect small bells and sayings in the languages I speak. Are you willing to contribute?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The Couch surfing project seems really interesting to me. I like to think that I'm a worldwide travelling soul and I guess most of the members here also enjoy travelling and sharing travel experiences. I am willing to help people travelling to Cuba with all the information they might need to plan their Cuba adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Cuban traditional music-filin and bolero, any stream of jazz, bosa nova and some musicians and bands such as Nina Simone and Los Van Van, always have the power to make my day ;-)
Books... ¡Realismo Mágico!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Anytime I have a plan, no matter how hard it might seem, I always apply all my best efforts to make it happen. the list is long, just the latest: I escaped a prison cell made of the hate and doctrines that was surrounded by salty water and rocks, just with the power of my mind ;-)
So, then, my favorite saying from my collection is: "where there's a will..."

Teach, Learn, Share

I am willing to learn everything from anybody. Lately, I am really into improving my English (specially speaking skills), so any help will be more than welcome.
I will share all my knowledge of the Cuban touristic market. It is really tricky to travel to Cuba if you don't have enough information beforehand. You need to be prepare to step into the past and forget about such things like Internet, credit/debit cards, cell phone communication. It can be frustrating for those planning long stays, but really rewarding in every senses. Someone told me once that spending time in Cuba is like healing the deep wounds that occupies that place where once where your social skills and spontaneous emotions. Being in a communist dictatorship like Cuba is like thinking out of the box since the very moment you open your eyes in the morning.
First thing: forget about the traditional couch surfing experience in Cuba. For the Cubans it is forbiden to host foreigners at home...but we can help you in so many ways during your trip that you won't believe your good fortune ;-)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think that one of the most valuable things you can share is your own time, so I am willing to share mine, and also information about my city and the country. Useful advises regarding accommodation, sightseeing and attraction in Cuba.
