About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To cultivate a curious, interested attitude towards everyone and everything. To learn to live a fully conscious, embodied existence. To live with joy and passion and humor.

ABOUT ME

I have 2 grown children and 5 grandchildren. I love music, concerts, the blues, rock, pop, country, anything but rap. I love to be outdoors, especially in and on the water. I'm into healthy food, and honest communication, and fun. Dealing w chronic lyme disease has put a damper on my dreams of travel in my older years, but I am slowly recovering. Recovering from trauma. Reducing electromagnetic pollution in my environment and educating others about this topic.

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live. It's all the same #*&$in day man. (Janis Joplin). Pursue my path and respect others. Don't try to hard to figure it all out, better minds than mine have tried. Comfortable not knowing the bigger picture. Feeling, sensing, intuiting. Resting. Appreciating companionship of others, trying to rise above the common default dynamic of relating. Awareness. Just keep trying. Or stop trying altogether. Ride that See Saw.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted a couple of guys attending a wedding, and I hosted a couple from Quebec who were into sustainable farming, had been woofing a little, and were visiting Sirius Community in SHutesbury. I hosted a young woman from NYC participating in a farm bike ride in my town.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't surfed yet, I was going to in NYC last year, but it fell through. (update, did cs with a member years ago in Newton mass, i think it was. She was very nice I enjoyed it.) I can be a bit of a loner, so it's hard, I think CS is full of extroverts! But I do like people, and interesting conversation, exchange of ideas and experiences. Then I like to go in my room afterwards, LOL.

Interests

Meditation and yoga, health. Simple living. Gardening, sewing, making jewelry, embroidery, hiking, swimming, kayaking, canoing, traveling. Chinese medicine. Music, listening, learning to sing and play an instrument, dancing. Somatics. Fabric art and mixed media. Trauma and it's affect on the body, especially, and the mind body interplay that ensues. How to heal that. Energy healing, qigong. Electropollution, effects of electromagentic fields on human health. The truth. Ambiguity. Traditional foods, meat/fat, non vegetarian health diets. Interested in but completely unknowledgable, about genetics, and epigenetics, and how modern science will change our lives in this way, and the intersection of these sciences, and conflicts, with popular thoughts on self-determination, manifestation, abundance, etc. new interest: evolutionary psychology, neuroplasticity.
Embodiment. Anything that helps people transform. Anything that helps people accept themselves as is. Ah, the crux of it all.

Music, Movies, and Books

Varies, Pema Chodron...novels, kids literature. Magazines, music anthologies and bios. Blues, americana, country, indie, rock. Spirituality, health and yoga books. Mysticism, theology. Dietary and nutrition books.
Just read a good novel, Once Upon a River. Siddhartha. The Second Coming of Christ, Paramahansa Yogandanda. Cheaper by the Dozen, LOL.
Comedy and romance movies. Crossword puzzles esp Sunday NYT Puzzle.
Recent reads: Most recent reads: Zucked, Surveillance Valley, Utopia for Realists. The Lonely American, The Pleasure Trap, Move Into Life, Embracing Our Selves, Many Minds One Self.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sold everything and went across the country alone after my kids grew up. Bought an airstream trailer and lived in it in the desert for several winters. On a clear day I could see 12 mountain ranges from my trailer.
Survived massive childhood trauma and successfully parented and grandparented.

Teach, Learn, Share

Qi gong, electromagnetic pollution, nutrition. Neuroplasiticity and evolutionary psychology (not an expert, just what I've gleaned from reading).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach a powerful qi gong practice if we have at least several days together. I can share my experience and knowledge of nutritional healing. I have more than the average knowledge about our increasing "electrosmog" environment and it's affect on all aspects of health. I also would travel with meters that test aspects of one's electromagnetic environment and can provide that free service if you wish. Can share about evolutionary psychology and neuroplasticity a little bit. Lots of knowledge of trauma and it's lifelong effects, as well as knowledge of some alternative mental health movements and practices.
