About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meeting new people and making friends. Exploring the world & finding adventure in all the twists and turns of life. But most of all laughing everyday.

ABOUT ME

There seem to be so many different sides to my personality I often wonder "just who the hell am I?" So I guess in equal parts I am a - yoga instructor, spiritual seeker, wannabe physicist, an adventurer, a crusty juggler and fire spinner, a cyclist, an entrepreneur, a loon, a philosopher, a drinker, a novice musician (I'm learning keyboard), a socializer, a bit of a hippy, a mystic atheist (or spiritual rationalist), a cashew nut, a vegan, a cheeky monkey, but mostly I am a manchild with an inner adult that I'm not really in touch with that often.

PHILOSOPHY

"I vote for the silly party."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A love letter to the last year of my life. (Sorry it's a long one) - 2015,
One year ago my mother told me that some astrological reason meant that I was coming into a good period of my life. Let's not entertain the idea that astrology is anything other than bollocks, but you know what, she couldn't have been more right. Since I turned twenty eight last July I have been on some truly amazing amazing amazing, life changing adventures. I have explored more of incredible India, where I lived on an Ashram, where I practiced yoga, worked on the farm, meditated on the sun rising over the ocean, and learnt by heart some truly tongue twisting Sanskrit mantras.
I explored ancient and new cities, and lost all track of days weeks and time on the chilled out sandy beaches of Goa. A few times on my journey I was even invited to teach yoga and am always happy when life gives me the opportunity to help people explore this powerful, ancient practice.
I have been the driving force behind the renovations of Raj Star Guesthouse, and turned it from the cusp of dereliction into a happy house filled with love and laughter (and a dead cat). Something I could not have done without the help of the most amazing group of friends I met along the way. You know who you are, I love you all and sincerely hope all our paths cross again.
I swam in the Arabian Sea everyday for about a month, and have finally nearly leaned how to swim properly. I have walked alone over 400 miles in Portugal and Spain, crossing beaches, sweating over mountains and through valleys, along roads and tracks, followed motorways through cities, stomped over sand dunes and across cliffs, I have slept under the stars, in the dessert, in the hills, in beaches, mountains, in forests and under bushes, I have woken up at night with snails on my face and been too scared (of completely non existent) wolves to sleep. I have met snakes and lizards, been chased by herds of bloodthirsty cows, and held communion with my goat brothers. I sweated and swore and sung myself through the pain and burns and blisters and heat of the Costa del sol, where I also walked along a nudist beach and thought 'fuckit when in rome!' Stripped off, and sat and had my lunch the way God intended, completely exposed to the world. It was fun, though I am glad sausage wasn't on the menu!
I have struggled with languages, lekin meri Hindi thik hai, and finding vegetarian food was not always easy, the chicken ball in the vegetarian Tagine was an especially big surprise. I volunteered on a retreat in Portugal for a month and felt I really helped people through their very personal journeys there (though at times I felt totally trapped there and wanted nothing more than to hit the road again). I learnt that making amazing juices is a simple as 'buy a juicer'.
I have also been on some very psychedelic journeys, somewhere in my mind I encountered a race of unfolding geometric spider Aztec aliens that talked to me and laughed at me before turning into boobs and legs, and dissolved my body into sand that blew away in the wind! (thank you David 😉) hahaha, that was a weird night alright! I have also found the time to learn how to play piano, and even though I'm so bad at it I am totally in love with all the "music" I create on it. I have met friends and lovers and have had my heart twisted and un-twisted by some beautiful souls, and even though sometimes things didn't go the way I had hoped, I still found myself extremely grateful for what I was given. And when my heart felt pain I was grateful that the universe had judged me strong enough to bear such feelings (Wombat helped too). I have fallen in love with beautiful Morocco, it's amazing people and epic rugged scenery. I saw its mountains, desserts, and beaches, got lost and found in bewildering medinas, smelt the souqs, and tasted the tagines, and will definitely return one day. To all that I love I am sorry I couldn't have been with you more but I am truly exceptionally grateful for every encounter we had! So thank you to you all for being there for me and supporting me through my adventures. When I was struggling on my walk just knowing you were alive, and that if I could just carry on, I would get to see you all again literally helped me everyday, so thank you for that. So soon I turn 29, and just wanted to say, thank you earth, thank you life, thank you friends and family, I feel literally blissed and blessed to have had the most amazing year of my life. I still haven't found myself, though I wasn't really looking. But I have found my strength, my determination, my mission, and seen the face of my loneliness, and the indecisiveness of my character. And although I have spent every single penny to my name (and a few of the banks too), I have no home or job, that doesn't matter at all. I would not change any of the amazing ups and downs I have been through and put myself through this last year. I am so so grateful for this year of adventures, and I urge you do not hesitate to take risks in life or wait. Roll on 29!
