About Me

CURRENT MISSION
To connect with people, learn, and share culture, experiences and laughter.

ABOUT ME
I was born in Connecticut but grew up and went to college in Massachusetts. After college I taught high school math for three years on the southern border of Texas. Before graduate school, I spent five months backpacking through western Europe, South America, and Mexico. I'm a lifelong student of the world, and I love meeting new people.

PHILOSOPHY
There is so much beauty in the world, and I try to notice and appreciate it as much as possible. I believe in trying to make the world a better place however you can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Strangers are friends you haven't met yet, and CS has introduced me to amazing people. I love trading stories, sharing cultures, and learning from others. The connections between people are one of best things about traveling.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've met many wonderful people in many different countries and states.

Interests

I love being outdoors and active, especially hiking, rock climbing, kayaking and bikram yoga. I like painting, making quilts and dresses, enameling (creating glass designs), and woodworking. I LOVE animals.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love books and movies that inspire me or make me think. I listen to pretty much everything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Getting caught in a hailstorm on top of a volcano in Quito, swimming with dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico, doing a 10,000 mile roadtrip around the US camping in National Parks, hitchhiking on a motorcycle in Chile, inspiring my former high school students to start a school recycling club.

Teach, Learn, Share

Never stop learning, growing and appreciating/enjoying life. Life is not linear - we are constantly figuring it out as we go, and every person we meet becomes part of us along the way.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Unfortunately I am an impoverished grad student at the moment, and I rent a very small room in a house with three roommates who aren't open to hosting. Once I'm out of school and have my own place, I look forward to opening it to couchsurfers!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Spain
