About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Blow up your TV, throw away the paper, move to the country, build you a home, plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches, you can find Jesus all on your own. - John Prine

ABOUT ME

I love travel; be it a one-day road trip to check out a new trail and a famous burger joint or halfway around the globe to romp through the jungle and swim in warm blue ocean I get high on making connections; meeting new people, and sharing stories is what makes my world go 'round.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, I'm new to couchsurfing.com, but I'm no stranger to couchsurfing in general. More memorably, I've slept in a largely mold-covered plywood room with no windows on a mildewy cot after a muddy 3+ hr bus ride in Ecuador on the way to a farm; pretty rough accommodations, but the family who hosted us was so incredibly caring and hospitable, even giving us a roll of toilet paper, which is like gold in rural areas. After that, we ended up at this incredibly gorgeous mountaintop farm, sleeping on an open platform, over looking a magical green valley. Totally awe-inspiring, but the host was crotchety, money-grubbing, and paranoid. Only lasted 2 days there; moral of my story, the people you connect with don't necessarily "ruin" or "make" an experience what it is, but they sure do shape it.

Interests

Cooking fresh from our tiny garden or with whatever is available, hiking anywhere and everywhere, people-watching in cities, drinking strong black coffee, singalongs by a bon fire, potlucks, dance parties. Yoga, running, CrossFit, reading quietly.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking Quilotoa Crater lake in the Andes of Ecuador; the entire rim took 7 hours through sun, blinding fog, whipping wind, rain, and finally, hail. Magical green-blue water on one side, rolling hills and distant snow-capped peaks on the other. Sometimes crawling on hands and knees up and down peaks all the way around with native flowers and shrubs alternating with a lunar-like landscape all along it. Mind-blowing.
