About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To figure out what I want to do when I grow up and where I want to do it.

ABOUT ME

I love travel, music, meeting new people, gardening and have strong political beliefs. Did I mention music? And dance. And genealogy. When the kids were still homeschooling we spent many nights in homeschooler's homes similar to the way couch works. We met great people. Now I'm trying to figure out the next stage in my life. Life is interesting, that's for sure. I have
three grown up kids that I home birthed, home schooled and now they all live far away. I now have 5 grandchildren.

PHILOSOPHY

First do no harm... wait, that's for doctors, umm really I try to leave the world a little better for my having been here and I try to follow the Do Unto Other's rule. I want to learn more and see more and meet more people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Now that I am getting older I don't know how much I will participate. I can't imagine anyone wanting to visit my town, Findlay, Ohio anyway, but would consider meeting up with someone and/or giving them advise about this little town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I went to North Carolina for my first Couchsurfing and stayed with some great people in 3 different cities there. That was around 2007 or so. I went with a guy friend that time. Then about a year later I went to NYC by myself and again stayed with different hosts although they were all in the city. I still remember how great the people were.

Interests

I guess I should have read thru the options before I answered the earlier question about myself. Instead of repeating I will elaborate on the biggest one, music. I love several genres including Dixieland Jazz, Ragtime, Blues, Oldies, Soft rock, classical, light opera, some country and some bluegrass. I like a lot more. The only kind I dislike is the mean rap, not the playful rap, that can be fun, I also don't like heavy metal and most punk.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite Broadway show is Spring Awakening. If you get a chance go see it and its best to get tickets to sit on the stage.
I like most movies but especially ones that are about social issues. At Play in the Fields of the Lord and Cry Freedom are fantastic. What the Bleep blew my mind. As mentioned earlier I love most music, Railroad Earth, Donna the Buffalo, The Duchs, The Wilders, are some of my current favorites. Some artists are James Taylor, The Moody Blues, Eva Cassidy, Joan Baez, Ron Sexsmith, Chris de Burgh. As for books I like non fiction mostly political or issues related to women and how they were/are treated. I also enjoy reading about home births and sex. I am currently reading "I am America, and so Can You" and "Cities, Ranked and Rated" because I will move someday soon. Update: I still haven't moved but would love to move to Athens, Ohio.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived with some actors in the mountain of Malibu. I was a "Mother's Helper" to the family with the little girls that played Carrie on "Little House on the Prairie". Lived in Guadalajara for a summer. Almost fell off a narrow ledge in SE Ohio near Old Man's Cave. My two favorite sunsets were, first of all, in Key West, standing in the ocean, and secondly, from the mountains in Malibu from the rock wall of an actress (played Ellie Mae in the Beverly Hlllbillies) I guess I can't count, this asked for one amazing thing but why stop now? I also think it was amazing that I had successful home births with my 3 kids.

Teach, Learn, Share

This is funny but my son has wanted to do something like this most of his life. As a mostly homeschooled kid he values the sharing of knowledge with others. When his sisters and I lived in Austin, TX, our homeschooling support group there did that kind of thing, anyone who had a skill or knowledge they wanted to teach or share with the other kids would have a little class/group. I would like to learn about identifying wild plants that are edible or medicinal. I know a little bit about several things but not well enough to be able to teach them except maybe about old music.

I've been learning about genealogy and might be able to help a beginner but I am definitely not an expert.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hmmm, my wonderful sense of humor? If my Significant Other is with me he is a cook and may be interested in cooking something yummy for you.
