ABOUT ME

Currently I'm a full-time student at an American law school. I strive to travel the world gathering ideas for how I want to live my life and for what I can do to make this world a better place. I'm committed to peace, environmental sustainability, cultural fulfillment, harmonious community integration. I like the arts. I like to dance. Eat good food. Be outside. Good humor is my favorite joy in life.

PHILOSOPHY

Grateful existentialist committed to peace, prosperity, and fulfillment for all beings and matter for that matter

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I enjoyed getting to know a large crowd of international couch-surfers while camping, hiking, and celebrating New Years 2010-2011 in Nueweiba and Sinai, Egypt. This rich experience of fellowship was beloved and, I admit, life-changing. As we celebrated, already the region's revolutionary spirit had roared in Tunisia. I like to think my first couch-surfer experience helped spur those winds of progress.

Interests

I like collecting bargain artwork that I reasonably could not make. Although I prefer live entertainment, I was raised in cinemas and still love motion pictures. My inner highlight reel of my life's loveliest moments runs often whenever I go running with my iPod. I love running, and I get inspired when I do. Most of my best new ideas arise on runs. Before I embark upon big journeys, I like to go for long runs. Some of my favorite inner highlight reel moments are of the dancing I've done at various concerts, clubs, and bars. I loved dancing early on, but I suppressed this love until my 20s. Now, if I'm inspired by the music, dancing can be my most adept means to become fully present, self-expressed, creative, to display my sense-of-humor, balance my ego, communicate, and be a leader in social settings. Some of my favorite dances include: a packed Saturday night at the Wynn Hotel's Tryst Nightclub [I was socially anxious, but the music was so excellent my feet just started moving...]; one Friday at dusk my pal Zoë and I got terribly lost in East LA on the way to what I hoped would be my first opera - We never found the opera house, but we did stumble upon a spacious green park which had a white gazeebo at its center - This park was in a completely-Spanish speaking otherwise urban part of Los Angeles - I was upset and anxious about missing the opera and being in an unfamiliar part of town - I saw a 3 or 4 piece horn band playing what faintly sounded like Tijuana Brass in the distance - The park was well occupied by Mexicans and a handful of couples were dancing - Zoë and I decided to go into the park, and as soon as we entered earth's reality completely changed - Immediately, I could hear that this park was no ordinary park - It was rectangular, maybe ten-by-ten city blocks in size, and it had a stunning, 360-degree surround sound acoustic quality - What while only inches away on the sidewalk had sounded like an alarm clock radio sized speaker playing 300 hundred feet away was now so bold and heavenly I felt like I was swimming in a ten-by-ten city block sized body of music - What did I do - I smiled, and swam; the last dancing story I will recount occurred one week after the passing of Michael Jackson - The setting was my favorite neighborhood bar in Santa Monica, Renee's - There was a DJ simply playing MJ - Only a couple of girls were dancing - Most patrons were talking - One could hear the music, but the chatter muted it some - However, the DJ's equipment communicated a strong bass that I felt - When my feet began to move and my chatty friends noticed, I asked them if they minded if I danced - With their permission, I joined the two girls dancing by the DJ - I never understood nor appreciated MJ better than I did that night one week after his passing.
