About Me

CURRENT MISSION

vivir la vida geordie!

ABOUT ME

I'm a curious and thoughtful person who loves to travel and learn about the ways things are done in other parts of the world, preferably through meeting local people to get a richer insight into their lives, the language, the history and the culture.

PHILOSOPHY

To be open to learning about philosophies/ways of life in different parts of the world and to be able to reflect on them and think about how they might alter/challenge my own perspectives.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have participated in CS for quite some time now in various places around the world (Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Lisbon, Santiago de Compostela, Budapest etc.). I've tended to get involved in group meetings, concerts, discussions, cookery classes and other types of get-togethers. All the people I've met through the website have been open-minded, friendly and have taught me something about the place I'm in or life in general.

I host occasionally depending on what I've got going on so send me a message and try me (especially if you speak Spanish)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I think the travelling experience is made much richer by Couchsurfing; it enables you to learn so much more about the place you're in rather than going on a tour of impressive yet rather hollow monuments and churches/museums.

Interests

I love all kinds of music. I won't reel off a list here as I'm sure we'll chat about them - I have my own core tastes but also love to learn about new musical styles in the countries I travel to. I enjoy learning languages and about recent political history in different regions of the world. I like to experience the sporting cultures of different parts of the world as well - I'm a big fan of football, cricket, tennis and an avid watcher of most sports. I also like to participate but usually for fun rather than anything too serious. I enjoy cooking and like to learn about wine although I'm by no means an expert!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite films include 'Waltz with Bashir', 'Persepolis', 'The Lives of Others', 'Abrazo Partido', 'Nido Vacio'. There are many more...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swam to the very edge of Victoria Falls in Zambia. Not quite sure about the extent of the Health and Safety checks but the experience was one I'll never forget - peeking over the edge with the water rushing all around.

Teach, Learn, Share

I play the sax and have a good ear for music so I'd be happy to have a jam although wouldn't go as far to say that I could teach you something. I really enjoy meditation and would like to dabble with yoga sometime - I enjoy sharing discussions about spirituality and mindfulness.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Buena onda y energía, some cooking skills, some music you might not have heard of and some discussions about geography of course :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, Falkland Islands (Malvinas), France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Paraguay, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, Uruguay, Zambia

Countries I’ve Lived In
