About Me

I travel North America on a motorcycle with my service dog, an Australian Shepherd, named Deacon Telerover. I am a Vietnam Combat veteran (U.S. Navy 1964-1969) with service connected disabilities, but they don't slow me down. I consider myself the Youngest Man Alive. I've been riding on and off road with Deacon for 5 years between the USA, Mexico and Canada. When he is no longer able to jump up on the motorcycle unassisted, then I will quit too. My wife, Becky, of 38 years of marriage, encourages me to get out and ride as long as I am able. I video my rides to share with others on my You Tube channel: https://youtube.com/c/telerover Deacon's Facebook page is "Deacon Telerover". Mine is "Michael Konshak". I am the founder and creator of the International Slide Rule Museum. http://sliderulemuseum.com

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At my age I have arthritis and other back problems and cannot camp so I look for motels, or a hospitable home. I generally need a bed, preferably soft and squishy, and having a shower is always a pleasure. :) Deacon is 50 pounds and prefers to sleep on tile floors, never gets on furniture and is good with little kids. I enjoy meeting new people and expanding my world view.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like folk music, and have composed many songs for the guitar. My favorite movies deal with technology, science fiction, intelligent thought provoking movies based on science and engineering. I also like lighthearted animated movies and romantic comedies. My boyhood hero was George Washington Carver who inspired me to want to become a scientist, but I had to settle on being an Engineer. My favorite authors are Robert A. Heinlein and Isaac Asimov. My favorite actors are Sandra Bullock, Tom Hanks and Amy Adams.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have 35 U.S. and World Patents in the areas of Computer Mass Storage. I've competed in robotic combat on TV shows like Battlebots, Robotica and Robot Wars. We won Robotica series 2 on the Discovery Channel. In 1999-2000 won 7 national class championships in vintage flat track racing.

Belgium, Canada, England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Philippines, Singapore, United States, Viet Nam
