About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore the world whilst having as much fun as is humanly possible!

ABOUT ME

I am a bit (understatement) of a wildlife nerd, so my past travels have revolved around working with wildlife. Luckily I also love humans, especially ones who make life happen for themselves and who seek out exciting opportunities, so I'm excited to see the places I travel through local people's eyes.

I love enjoying the wonders of life with people, whilst laughing as much as possible along the way. Having said that, I can also be a serious lady (especially when it comes to people's feelings and the environment ) so I really enjoy an in-depth chat too.

I am a vegetarian. I have no problems with people eating meat, I can relate, I ate it for a long time and in fact a love it. I just can't get that carbon footprint out of my conscious unfortunately. This does not stop me loving food and finding awesome places to eat!!

PHILOSOPHY

Dance until you die (sweating will also suffice).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to go to CS meetings whenever I can and have surfed in Germany, Croatia, Netherlands and Denmark in the past. Unfortunately my current shared housing situation does not allow me to host myself but I look forward to doing it in the future.

I just want to point out that I am not on here to hook up with people. I have unfortunately had too many experiences where male hosts have made advances at me without asking me politely first.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far most (see comment above) of my CS experiences have been positive and I've learnt something from every one.

Interests

SPOTTED HYENAS, spying on wildlife, travel, cooking, meeting new people, dancing, reading, cooking and eating, playing music (currently singing, piano and guitar), spending time in cafes/parks reading, chatting and drinking tea!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a dork and am often not cultured in my choices. Luckily this doesn't stop me; I like what I like and have no shame!

Movies: Wayne's World, Edwards Scissor Hands, Splash, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Lost Boys, Disney

TV: Twin Peaks, Pokémon, The Royle Family, Alan Partridge, Xena Warrior Princess

I'll listen to all sorts of music, but some particular favourites are Ella Fitzgerald, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash, Chromeo, Solomon Burke, Muddy Waters. For dancing, anything with an African beat is a win!

Some books I have recently enjoyed: Revolutionary Road, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Jurassic Park, Silent Spring, The Secret Life of Trees. I love reading and am always looking for new material!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I milked a spotted hyena (for scientific field work purposes) and accidently sprayed the milk in my face. Who does that?

Teach, Learn, Share

If you want to know about wildlife I am happy to talk about it. If you want to know about spotted hyenas I am VERY happy to talk about it.

I love learning and I am very curious. This usually results in me wanting to try a bit of everything!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook. I wouldn't say I'm amazing at it, but I enjoy it all the same. I also love making people happy, so if you need a good laugh, hopefully I can remedy this!

Countries I’ve Visited

Botswana, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Nicaragua, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Kenya, Tanzania, United Kingdom
