About Me

Hello friends,

Back in 2015, I left my steady 9-5 job in web development, left my awesome house share, sold everything I had that was superfluous, stored the rest (thanks, Dad) and embarked on a journey. The first stop was North America.

I wasn't content to stay on the 'roundabout' and somehow I knew I needed to make a change and go outside of my comfort zone, to grow and become stronger as a person. I was always going to travel and move abroad. Since my early twenties, the ambition has always been there.

I'm definitely on a personal journey - to make the world feel smaller, to make lasting memories, and to make new friends. To that end I'm hungry for great experiences. So far, so good! ;)

I would describe myself as down to earth, always interested in people, their lives and stories and 'easy peasy' to get on with. In terms of my interests, I like hiking, nature, animals, yoga, music, playing guitar (I'll be bringing this!), travel, films, motorbikes, meeting new people and probably a bunch of other stuff that I can't recall whilst writing this!

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for reading and I can't wait to meet you!

Daniel

UPDATE - 23/2/2019

I'm now living in London :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Many of my memorable travels have something to do with CS. Be it my first surf experience in Salem with Alex, my first CS meet-up in Toronto with the gang, surfing with Jon the helicopter pilot in Newfoundland or being Dana's first surfer in Calgary.

All of the surfers I have hosted have then become part of my travel story too - they have all brought different personalities, music, food, humour and good energy to where I may have been living at the time, and I'm grateful for that.

I've experienced more generosity here than I can get my head around at times, but above all I'm thankful.

Interests

Music, sport, travel, people, languages, learning, keeping fit, good food.

Music, Movies, and Books

Gosh, where to start?! I like anything that moves me - electronic music, acoustic, rock, jazz, classical etc.

I like reading autobiographies mostly, but also enjoy travel books and some fiction from time to time. My fav fiction book is probably 'Until I Find You' by John Irving.

My favourite film is probably Good Will Hunting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The amazing thing I've done is say 'Yes!' to the possibilities of travel. To build a bigger life (as one of my close friends often tells me), to embrace the unknown. To look back in years to come and say, "I did that!"

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can: cook together, share travel stories, hike, jam some music, learn some chords, write songs, go for a beer, hang out, learn something new, practise English

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, England, Honduras, Italy
