ABOUT ME

I'm an English teacher in Germany (Originally from Ontario, Canada), looking to expand my career and learn as much about the Schwabenland that I've moved to. I seem absent-minded to some people, but actually I just have a bad habit of thinking/doing five things at once and lose focus on one thing or the other. I really love metal concerts, German dancing (I'm a member of a dance group in Reutlingen) and hope to make friends who enjoy the same things.

PHILOSOPHY

It doesn't take much money to be happy, as long as you have good friends and warm food.

Treat everyone with respect and good intention. Nobody is perfect, but we all deserve each other's kindness.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I go abroad, I want to meet like-minded people who can trade stories and advice with me. I'm not new to travelling, but there are many places to see in the world, and they all have their own way of being. I want to learn from others and find people to come travelling with me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed a fair amount around Germany and Europe when I was an exchange student in Mannheim 2014/15. I had a lot of experiences, both positive and negative, and have learned a lot about meeting new people and staying safe.

Interessen

Dancing, hiking, camping heavy metal, folk music, driving boats, archery, studying language, travelling, teaching, sports, board games, The Eurovision Song Contest, writing stories and poetry.

I try to learn a new major skill each year. Right now it's archery, next on my list is the accordian.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Open to anything musical but rap. I love movies, that are thoughtful and touch on aspects of the human experience we may not otherwise think about, especially in the context of horror. That said, I can't stand most of the movies that come out of the mainstream movie industry these days. In terms of literature, I love Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, though I haven't had a lot of time for reading over the last few years because of school (Ironically). I also like to read different styles of poetry to look for inspiration in my own writings.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Have you ever camped on the lakes of Northern Ontario? Do it, it's incredible. Apart from that, I love going on adventures, alone and with my friends.
