About Me

As Helen Keller said, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." So, I'm currently on a mission to travel to 50 countries and all 50 U.S. states before I turn 30, which will also be my 15th anniversary with Type 1 diabetes. (Ask me about all the close calls I've had overseas traveling with this chronic, life-threatening disease sometime). I like to venture onto the lesser-known paths and read a good book at the best coffee shop in town.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a solo female traveller, I of course had my doubts when I first heard about CS. But now that I've taken the plunge, I've learned that the danger in CS is not safety; it is inspiration. I leave each encounter ready to take on the world!

I'm excited to meet more people who are passionate about experiencing different cultures, hearing their stories about their traveling escapades, and learning about what makes their city special.

Interests

#1 interest is trying new things. Beyond that, some favorites are learning languages, soccer, snowboarding, mountain biking, ping pong, reading, playing board games, tasting the local cuisine, and getting to know people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Jack Johnson, Ed Sheeran, We Three and foreign music like merengue or Fréro Delavega. Bienvenue Chez les Ch'tis is definitely up there on the list of favorite movies, as are She's the Man, The Proposal, and The Scarlet Pimpernel. I am a shameless Harry Potter fan and also enjoy reading the occasional piece of French literature. Victor Hugo is my all time favorite author.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Travelled to over 30 countries in my first 20 years of life
- Went flying down a mountain on a bike going over 50km/hr in the French Alps
- Got stranded during a typhoon in Taiwan
- Spent the night on a park bench in the Czech Republic
- Worked at a castle in the Alps
- Learned taekwondo in Korea speaking 0 Korean
- Sat in the cockpit of a commercial Air France flight during takeoff
- And, of course, Couchsurfed!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am told I can make some pretty mean crêpes... so I would be happy to let you decide for yourself! Of course, I would love to speak English, French or Spanish with you if you are looking to practice. My German is not fluent, but conversational, so up to you if that's of any value 😜
