About Me

[Fully vaccinated]

I want to experience the world by hitchhiking, wildcamping, on my tiny moped and where possible couchsurfing. Other than this I work as a tourleader for Lupine Travel. When I am not abroad i spend my time relaxing in my apartment together with my fiancee (Ellen) and our cats (Lex and Lola).

It may be that I will not respond in time as I could be travelling myself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am hoping to help out some interesting/friendly travelers that enjoy hanging out with a fellow traveler, thus giving something back to the Couchsurfing comunity and helping one out.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading travel stories from early expeditioners and those on on the regions that I visit. Those books inspired me to do what I do. Further more I have a diverse liking of music (mostly post-Punk, 80's stuff) but as I'm travelling my music with all kinds of genres keep me sane and happy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Drive a cheap Chinese motorbike from Ghana to Mali to see Djenne's mosque
- Went through a coming-of-age (voodoo) ritual in northern-Benin with the Betamaribe tribe.
- Traversed through the jungles of the Guianas with my machete and hammock.
- Traveled by all means to the Pico Cão Grande on the remote island of Sao Tome in the Gulf of Guinea.
- Hitchhiked from Iran tot the Caucasus, and from Istanbul to Israel.
- Hitchhiked through Northern Iraq and climbed (and camped on) Mt. Halgurd, 3607m.
- Riding the Irone Ore Train through the remote desert of Mauritania.
- Get Teargassed on the streets of Khartoum after the coup in Sudan
- Lead a tour to Chad
- Visited the Mundari and Dinka tribes in South-Sudan
- Travelled from Lebanon to Syria to visit Palmyra, Aleppo and Damascus.
- Flew to Brazil and travelled overland to Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina afterwards.
- Lead a 2-week tour from Lahore through North and South Pakistan to Islamabad.
