About Me

Hey,

I'm Nicola, I'm English, 26 and travelling around New Zealand with my sister Claire who is 29.

We both previously worked in London but quit our jobs to go to Aus and New Zealand and take a break from our work, work, work mentality. We're hoping relaxing and having fun here will teach us to get a better work/life balance once we do start working again!

Over the last year we pretty much travelled everywhere in Aus (visited every state and territory) and are now trying to do the same in New Zealand in a very very short time before we finally head home back to reality :(

Feel free to ask us for any travel tips and recommendations if you've not travelled Aus/NZ yet.

We own a flat near London in England so understand the importance of taking care of a property. We are responsible, respectful people who completely appreciate that you are inviting people into your home and would treat it in the same way we expect ours to be treated by our tenants.

We look forward to meeting you soon!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We decided couch surfing would be a good idea so that we can spend time with locals in their home, rather than continuing to book dorms in hostels - after twelve months of this on and off, we would welcome the change and new experience.

We couch surfed for the first time in Aus and have made some amazing friends from it so hope to continue that trend.

Apparently summer means that Queenstown gets crazy busy and all the hostels are booked out so we thought we would see if anyone on here is up for having us to stay with them instead.

We've heard Queenstown is amazing so it would be great to be shown what it has to offer by someone in the know.

Interests

Although we're really close, we've realised we weirdly don't have much in common.

Nicola's:
- Singing, dancing, acting - if you're a SingStar pro or want to produce your own musical production, I would love to join you!
- Star gazing, especially in remote places away from the city's bright lights - the night sky in Uluru was awesome
- Law - I did a law degree and worked in a law firm for four and a half years
- Rugby - watching, not playing, I'm certainly not sporty!
- Laughing

Claire's:
- Socialising and finding new restaurants and bars
- Health and fitness
- History - she did this as a degree but then ended up working in automotive events (a fancy way of saying launching cars) in London, I guess she didn't fancy being a librarian after all
- Being outdoors - whether it's having a picnic or rock climbing, she always likes to be out and doing something

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In Australia: Sky dive over Uluru and Kata Tjuta.

In New Zealand: Tongariro Crossing.

Teach, Learn, Share

We've accumulated a lot of wisdom over the years that we are happy to share. Just ask and we're bound to know ;) saying that, we're pretty crap at pub quizzes so maybe aren't as wise as we like to think we are.

Having unnecessarily spent A LOT of money whilst travelling, we can teach you lots about how not to travel around Australia/New Zealand.

We would both love to be fluent in Spanish but are failing pretty miserably to accomplish that whilst travelling, although we have picked up a little French along the way... If you want to learn some dodgy French sayings then look no further!

What I Can Share with Hosts

In exchange for a place to stay, we can cook you dinner and help out with some cleaning. Our specialties include fajitas, risotto, chilli con carne and, of course, a traditional English roast dinner.

When we're back in England (one day), if you're visiting London we can host you in our flat, show you London's nightlife and cool places to go/things to see and do in the day.
