About Me
CURRENT MISSION
"The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do" -Susan Cain
ABOUT ME
I find it really difficult to describe myself, but I will try my best. My name is Nicole, and I'm 22 years old. I really enjoy learning new languages and hearing about different cultures/customs :). I'm very open minded and I love new experiences. I love reading, writing, and pretty much anything that is creative! I have been a vegetarian for half of my life now, and vegan for a few months.
I hope to travel the world when I am done school. My dream is to volunteer in Tanzania or Kenya, either in an orphanage or an animal sanctuary. However, my ultimate dream is to live in the wild with the animals, sort of like Tarzan :D
PHILOSOPHY
I have a few, but my most important philosophy is rooted in Buddhist philosophy. I try to live a life of empathy and compassion, reducing harm wherever possible. I also try to focus on living in the moment as often as I can (this is definitely a challenge sometimes).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am just starting to host people, but recently I have been meeting a lot of couch surfers for coffee.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I haven't had many, but for the most part they have all been positive.
Interests
There are too many! Anything outdoors. I love staying active, but I also love laying on the grass and reading a good book. I love music, writing, reading, tennis, dancing, hanging out with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love documentaries, especially ones about animals :). I don't really watch a lot of movies though. With music , I am open to almost all genres. I love The Beatles, The Tragically Hip, Andrea Bocelli, Barenaked Ladies, Iron and Wine, Sia, Bob Marley...many, many more! My favourite book is "The God of Small Things" by Arundhati Roy. I love post-colonial literature. I really enjoy novels where I can learn about a new culture, country, religion etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Tuscany, Italy was absolutely beautiful. I hope to visit there again :)
This might not be "amazing" to every one, but there are a few moments in my life that really stand out..especially travelling moments. The first one is when I went to Greece I met some really great people who worked at the local cafe. We spent almost every day hanging out with them, and one night we went to their friend's bar, and they closed it down so we could have a night of karaoke until 4am! :D
Another great moment was driving up a hill in Tuscany. All you could smell were flowers. The weather was great, I was with awesome people, and it was just such a wonderful moment.
I want to keep travelling like this. Living in the moment, making friends along the way, and immersing myself in the country/city! :)
