About Me

Let's hang out if you like DIY stuff, beer, building stuff, gardening, bees, weapons of all sorts, mopeds and bicycles. Typical Portlandia stuff.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed so far and hosted way back in 2012: a fine gentleman from Hong Kong and then a couple of Spanish girls who thought it was OK to let some dude crash at my place without asking me. Other than that, my roommate Seth hosted a bunch of Koreans and ONLY spoke to them in Korean so I didn't get to know them at all.

Interests

DO CALL ME IF YOU: Tell me about your hometown, advise me on buying beer, tell me about your trips to the desert, ghost stories, invite me to campfires, eat my delicious crepes (when I can be bothered to make them), dumpster-dive (non-soiled stuff that can be fixed), work on your car, have a garden, study something you love and are passionate about, be interested in my mildly interesting life and travels. Urban exploration and hiking.

Music, Movies, and Books

Don't really listen to music anymore as I'm can't read and listen to songs with lyrics at the same time.

Favorite book has to be Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk although any of his stuff is a good read.

Music is really something best for the car and I haven't owned one (or needed one) in nearly six years.

Studying Underground Economies (Sudhir Venkatesh does a good one in Chicago)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing! Wow... that's a big pair of shoes to fill.

Ah, OK. I took a war tourism trip to Aleppo for a couple of days in 2013. That was AMAZING. It was before the barrel bombs and back when the Islamic State didn't control the road from Aleppo to Azaz.

The lame part is that I didn't back up some of my better footage of the trips.

Teach, Learn, Share

People that are patient. A.K.A not my father when he tried to give me driving lessons at the age of sixteen.

Teach: I can teach the fundamentals of kitchen prep, Chinese Wok usage techniques, Pasta prep/dishes, Some soups.

Combat first aid techniques (NREMT-Basic cert expired in 2011) that I learned in the military.

Learn: Anything regarding getting energy for free: Hot water production systems, efficiency designs.
