About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Been around the world, now trying to bring the world to me.

ABOUT ME

In December 2011, I quit my job and travelled around the world. I came home and decided to move back to New York from Minnesota for a little more excitement. I love travel and travelers so am excited to try hosting now that I've surfed.

PHILOSOPHY

The best way to stay young is to still do things that some might say are just for "young people".

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed and met surfers in many places, now that I'm settled, I would like to turn host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just had my first couch surfing experience as as surfer and it was a great one! I hope to be half as good a host when I return home. Through my travels I have also met a few couch surfers and love the community it creates.

Interests

Music is important to me, and I love learning about music from other countries/cultures. I love all things pop culture and learning what is popular elsewhere. I am a big reader, but nothing too serious.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - my tastes are really varied. The only things so far that I do not like is American new country music and super heavy metal. For movies, I tend to prefer comedies and suspense/thrillers or historical/period movies. I hate scary movies frankly because I get scared! I am currently reading a book about Catherine the Great of Russia and Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a year in Russia as a high school exchange student - the whole year was absolutely amazing, both with good and bad experiences that shaped who I am today - and where I live now! I am still kind of amazed that I actually took a round the world trip by myself. It was short, but I actually made a dream come true!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have lived in different places in the United States and can talk about differences in cultures within the states. I also can talk about my experiences in corporate america, the cultures, the pros and the cons of work life here. I have practical skills in anti-money laundering compliance and process improvement.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates

Countries I’ve Lived In

Russian Federation, United Kingdom, United States
