About Me

**If you are in Iceland I can't meet since I am in Amman. Also if I don't accept your friend request it's nothing personal - I only accept people that I've actually met. Random friend requests will never be accepted. I will not reply to messages if it seems the concerned person has not read my profile (for example by being unaware of this)**

I'm a silly, childlike grown up with chronic existential angst. I like feeling happy. Things that make me feel happy are: laughing, expressing myself through words or music or painting, sipping beer, enjoying a walk in solitude, taking in the wonders of nature, and having sincere conversations.

A year ago I graduated with a BA in anthropology, minoring in Middle Eastern studies. I've been studying Arabic (fus'ha) at a university level for two years and have been studying some Amy'e for a few weeks. In January I moved to Amman, Jordan, to focus on bettering my Arabic but ended up landing a really cool job with Palestine refugees, which is prolonging my stay in Amman and ironically enough taking all my time away from Arabic studies.

Last summer I was working for the Environment Agency of Iceland as the ranger of the southern Westfjords which basically meant I was the janitor and security guard for nature ;) I got to take care of the landscape I grew up in, where all my forefathers and mothers used to roam about, so that was pretty cool.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I first signed up on CS I had heard it was a good way to travel for cheap... but then I got to know the community (and grew up a little) and found it amazing. I've been on a break from here for a good while, four years I think, and I'm hoping that this community hasn't changed from what it was. I'm hoping that I will be able to get to know some like-minded people and have a connection with you beautiful strangers!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to snap my fingers. Not sure if I can teach others to do it, though. It feels like it's something that has to come from within. Took me twenty-three years.

Write to me if you are creative, sincere, kind, weird, candid, you speak Arabic, and/or if anything in my profile speaks to you. Always looking to make new friends :-)

What I Can Share with Hosts

A happy outlook on life, good talks (I've got some serious listening skills), and if you're lucky, inappropriate jokes.
