About Me

I just finished the Camino de Santiago walk through northern Spain and am now continuing to travel through Europe for as long as the savings last!

I grew up in Bondi Beach (maybe you've heard of the TV show Bondi Rescue? 'Tis my childhood beach) and have lived there my whole life, but hey now… I am always keen to leave home and see the world. Something wishful like that.

In 2018 I did a 6-month university exchange in the little mountain of Flagstaff, Arizona where I met plenty of lovely people from around the world. It’s always the cliche, but that was probably the best half-year of my life!

Back home I studied a degree in Communications and Creative Writing at the University of Technology, Sydney.
I do enjoy the uni lifestyle but also feel there is much more to learn about human nature, compassion and understanding while traveling than from a textbook.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the whole philosophy behind couchsurfing and the cultural exchange that it creates. Meeting like minded and open minded people who also have the travel bug and are interested in learning new experiences and cultures and everything this big beautiful world has to offer!

Interests

I love playing and recording music, guitar specifically. Currently learning the drums too! It all helps me switch off and be present when i need to be, just in the moment. The best creative outlet there is for me.

Hiking and camping ❤️❤️❤️

Bouldering/climbing is one of my favourite active pastimes too. If you’re keen for a climb and know a gym near you let’s go!

Currently very interested in film photography and am trying to get into it while navigating the expense of a proper, quality camera.
Photography exhibitions are one of my favourite things to visit, the World Press exhibition and Wildlife Photographer of The Year award being a couple notable faves.

I absolutely love football (or soccer, if you prefer). Anytime, anywhere, with anyone, I'm always so happy to kick a football around in the park :)

I love skiing with all me heart too. I try to find mountains in whichever countries I visit if they exist

I'm very interested in history as well so I will often explore museums and exhibitions around places I go.

Writing is a big passion too.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:
i love anything. Basically if i like it, i like it. Don’t really matter how it might be categorised.

But to drop a few names, some of my favourite musicians are:

Yussef Dayes, Mac Demarco, John Fahey, Bert Jansch, Nujabes, Stereolab, Ween, David Bowie, Hiatus Kaiyote, Parquet Courts, DEVO, Neil Young, Takashi Yoshimatsu, Kendrick Lamar, Angel Olsen, Sleep, Rex Orange County, Otis Redding, Phony Ppl, Logic, The Beatles, The Internet, John Coltrane, Billie Holiday, The Monkees, Isaiah Rashad, Sam Cooke, Ty Segall, Paul Simon, Kikagaku Moyo, Robert Johnson, Kurt Vile, Mathias Eick, Toro Y Moi, Paul Kelly, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Alabama Shakes, Aphex Twin, Johnny Cash, BADBADNOTGOOD, Courtney Barnett, Alt-J, Bonobo, Charles Bradley, MF Doom, The White Stripes + Jack White's solo stuff, Fats Domino, Devendra Banhart, Jeff Buckley, J.Cole, Jimmy Cliff, and so many, many more.

Evidently I can ramble on this topic… hehe. Music is my favourite thing on earth, always happy to talk about it from hours on end and learn more all the time. So please share some of your favourite stuff with me too!

MOVIES:
So many. Not sure where to begin. Rather than list my favourite movies maybe I'll just list some of my favourite directors:

Wes Anderson - Anything this man creates is pure genius.
Martin Scorcese
Yorgos Lanthimos
Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli - Some of the most wonderful and imaginative films of all time are Princess Monoke, Spirited Away, Laputa and Howl's Moving Castle. They make my soul sing :,)

Also, STAR WARS.

Recently getting really into the weirder, experimental side of horror/thriller type stuff too. The Lighthouse and Midsommar are sufficiently gut-turning. Plenty to unpack in those!

ANIME:
My favourite anime series are Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop and Fairy Tale. But Samurai Champloo is ichi ban!

BOOKS:
I haven't read as many books as I would like to. Currently reading Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig.

I love non-fiction too. Philosophy, sociology, environmental sciences and so forth. If you have suggestions please offer them :)

Others I like:

Haruki Murakami - I admire his imagination and writing style a lot.

Anthony Bourdain 🖤 RIP

The Song of Achilles - Madeline Miller

Anything from the insane mind of Tom Robbins.

Tolkien - Lord of the Rings, what can I say? Words can't describe the love :,)

Siddartha

Don’t mind a bit of Kerouac either.

Philip Pullman - His Dark Materials trilogy. Read this when I was younger and it will always have a place in my heart.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmmmmm. Pretty hard to narrow it down and i don't want to start going on about my travel experiences. It's not a competition to be more interesting than each other!
Let’s chat when we meet, yeah? ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always opening to learning and experiencing new things that different cultures have to offer. And I'm happy to share my own culture and interests with other people i meet (although, admittedly, Australian culture is not so rich and diverse as most others around the world).

Always down to have cheeky jam if you got the instruments too hehe

What I Can Share with Hosts

A friendly attitude, an open mind and an open ear for conversation.

And of course a hand in the cooking and doing the dishes ;)

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Costa Rica, England, Fiji, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
