Last MISSION
March, 2017 Update: Buenos Aires & a short trip to Colonia, Uruguay was fun and people are really friendly in both countries but my favorite still remains South Africa.
July, 2016 Update: Done - I'm going to be in Buenos Aires for the month of February and a few days into March. I must admit I almost did something I usually don't do and that was going back to Cape Town. That location is a blast - the people so kind and fun, the beauty, the culture of people from all of Africa.

(Feb 2016 Update I did do the Eastern Europe road trip for five weeks driving through 10-11 countries and loved it. Didn't do the 2015 Sweden trip and it's rescheduled. Did go to Cuba for three weeks and Mexico for Christmas. In 2016, I spent the month of February in Cape Town, South Africa and it has shot up to #1 as the favorite vacation place). My 2016 "mission" is to figure out what to do for the rest of the year and where to go in 2017 for February. )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing that ever happened to me was when I traveled via Aeroflot back to the USA from Moscow, Russia sitting next to a young guy. We talked for hours and I learned more about Russian in these few hours then I did for the weeks I was in the country. He was to be in Chicago for graduate work for a number of weeks. I invited him to visit me in the Detroit area but never expected him to contact me. He did contact me several weeks later and took a bus to my area to visit. We had so much fun together in that three days weekend. I don't think either one of use will forget it. I still need to get back to Moscow to visit him and meet his wife and family.

Teach, Learn, Share

I really enjoy meeting people from all over the world where I can ask way to many questions but learn so much about their culture and how they see the world.

I'm learning every day when I meet someone.

For instance, I learned more about Russia from a college student seatmate on my return flight to the USA from Russia then my two weeks stay in that country!
