About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a new adventurer. Every aspect of my life has been entirely torn down and reconstructed over the past two years. I am onto an entirely new chapter of life.

I love exploring cultures, cuisines, and communities. I often feel called by the voice of the outdoors. I live in Bremerton, Washington, near Seattle, where my partner and I visit forests, beaches, lakes, and mountains as often as possible. I have been eating fairly strictly vegetarian for the past 2 years and now I'm "leaning into" veganism.

I am an elementary school general music teacher. I dance, sing, play, cavort, and explore with 450 five through twelve year olds. I love conducting and singing in choirs. I enjoy theater, especially musical theater, and spending time with the strong group of incredible people that some may call friends, but I know are truly more like family.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am ready to travel.

Everywhere.

Anywhere.

I enjoy sharing stories, food, and friendship with others who enjoy the same. As soon as my partner is convinced this safe, I'd love to start making our home open to friends I haven't met yet from around the world to return the favor for those who've hosted me and to continue weaving the web of humanity that connects us as a result of these experiences together.

Music, Movies, and Books

Whenever my students ask me what kind of music I listen to my answer is always the same: "I like GOOD music."

Anything that "works."

I have favorites in the sacred choral, blue grass, gospel, R&B, soul, rock, folk, country, opera, classical, blues, jazz, (etc.) genres.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's a very personal note, but most likely the most amazing thing I've done is to navigate my way from life as a True-Blue-Mormon married man with kids living my life meeting other people's needs and expectations to life as a former-Mormon-turned-spiritual seeker, out-as-gay divorced man and long-distance dad living my life with integrity from the inside out.

Yeah. I'd say that's about it. One run-on sentence to summarize my recent rebirthing.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, Dominica, France, Martinique, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Sint Maarten (Dutch part)
