About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live, love, and share in the fullness of this beautiful and crazy world we live in.

ABOUT ME

I am a kind-hearted, adventuresome soul who is intellectually inquisitive, socially-comfortable, environmentally-aware, and spiritually curious. I wake up to NPR, often start my sentences with, "I wonder why...", love my friends and community, and take great joy in planning and partaking in adventures and gatherings. I love the night, but am past the days of all-nighters. I love sports, but like to play more than watch. I love a glass of wine at dinner, but am not interested in the bar scene. I love a good movie, but have not owned a TV for most of my life. I love to cook. My life is a tapestry of interesting experiences... I have worked on a dude ranch in Wyoming, as a river guide in Sierras, a program coordinator for mentally and physically disabled kids and adults, a massage therapist of 10 years which included a stint at the 2002 Olympics, and am now an Osteopathic Physician (D.O.) in private practice in Berkeley and Marin.

PHILOSOPHY

Live, love, and laugh (and may there be good wine, good friends, and dark chocolate.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed many a couch during my fourth year of medical school and beyond. I am now in the position to give back to the community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent a month CS'ing in NYC and 2 weeks in Salt Lake at the 2002 Olympics, a month in Los Angeles, 2 wks in North Carolina, 2 weeks in Kentucky (where I ended up petsitting for a menagerie of 10 different animals as the owner had to leave town on business for 1 of the weeks) and a week in the Bronx at the person's apartment who introduced my to CS'ing in the not so distant past. I have greatly appreciated the generosity friends and community have shown me over the years. Hung out with CS'ers in Guatemala and Madagascar. Insta-bonding.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Galloping by Camel across a desert in India; Rafting two days of amazing class 5 rapids in a deserted wild canyon in the Sierras. Roasting marshmellows over flowing lava on a volcano in Guatemala. Sitting 7 days in silence.

Teach, Learn, Share

I ran a monthly women's circle where we build community, share, connect, inquire, laugh, cry, and co-create. It's become a lovely tradition.

I also oversee our local physician's group where we get together periodically to teach and learn from one another.
