About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To build a life I don't need a vacation from.

ABOUT ME

I'm a total oxymoron, everything about my personality has an opposite and equal sized representation. I'm strategically vague. I love to travel more than anything. I like to finish what I start. I'm a complete nerd. I love to learn new things. licorice is my favorite candy(before you ask if I mean red or black, there is no such thing as "red licorice", that's a hoax. "red licorice" is just a cherry flavored gummy impostor shaped like a licorice stick. Licorice is a flavor, not a shape!) I can be a touch caustic sometimes, I apologize if I have ever offended you. I'm multi-faceted.

I am also a little bit allergic to dogs, so if you have one please let me know.

If you have some time to waste and you'd like to learn more about me I have a blog that I'm horrible about updating(I think the last post is from 2011) but that you can learn a little bit more about my past from, if you want.

PHILOSOPHY

Some of my favorite quotes say it best:

"If your not living on the edge then your taking up to much space."

"I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are."

"A ship in a harbor is safe, but that's not what ships were built for."

"If only. Those must be the two saddest words in the world." - Mercedes Lackey

"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. We must never, ever be boring." - Chuck Palahniuk

"Wish not so much to live long, as to live well"

These are all basically saying the same thing, chances are worth taking!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have surfed in several countries, I have hosted in ATX, and I have been lucky enough to meet several surfers that are now much more than just CS friends.

You either get it or you don't. I'm hoping if you are reading this profile now, that you are one of the people who get what CS is really about.

Interests

Traveling anywhere and everywhere, Hiking, Dancing(I'm pretty good at two-step, and swing; and I'm ok at salsa), Reading, Learning in general (I'm a massive nerd!). I love to experiment with Cooking.

I love Water. I'm not very good at any of the things you do on it, or in it(except Scuba, I'm good at that), but I really, really love it! There is nothing nicer or more relaxing then sitting out on a sail boat just rocking with the waves, letting the sun shine down on you, and watching the horizon. <3

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a little bit of everything but if I had to pick just a few off the top of my head...

Movies: Amelie(just all around fantastic), The Importance of Being Earnest(I could probably recite this film I've seen it so many times), How to Train Your Dragon (one of my top three animated films), Whale Rider(just beautiful), Doomsday (because who doesn't love a good blood and guts action flick?)

Music: Sinatra (classic), Ingrid Michaelson (love it all), Stromae (I heard 'Alors On Dance' as website background music, and didn't stop scouring the internet till I found out who sang it), Vampire Weekend (fun and cool), Regina Spektor (Possibly favorite of all time, her early stuff is the best!)

Books: Watchmen (read it, it will change your life), The Tao of Pooh (I'm not a Taoist but this book helped me see the way I lead my life in a new light), Harry Potter (how can you not love the boy who lived?), The Loved One (I adore dark humor), Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good,Very Bad Day (BEST...BOOK...EVER!!!"...even in Australia")

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Done: I climbed Table Mtn when I was in Cape Town. It is a must do for anyone who goes there. Absolutely breathtaking!

One time after a Stormers game my friends and I needed a ride home, but we couldn't find a taxi anywhere so we called in an order to the pizza place across the street from the stadium and got a ride to the house with the delivery guy. We thought it was pretty clever.

Seen: When I was hiking out on the Hanakapi'ai Trail(which is super steep, and probably takes 2 hours to get out of) there was a man that looked to be about 40 and he was really struggling with his huge backpack (It looked like it had been packed for a week of camping). Along comes this 20-something guy, also with a huge pack, who offers to carry the older man's pack out for him. The 20-year old's friends left him behind, but this guy still carried both his pack and the strangers pack all the way out in the 90F/32C degree heat. This is one of the kindest most amazing things I've ever seen anyone do.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can pretty much answer any question you have about traveling to Oz on a working holiday visa. It is my job to help people from all the eligible countries to get a job before they land, get the visa, get a flight, and sort out all the logistics that go into moving to the other side of the world for a year. I did it and I recommend it to anyone! :)

Learn: I want to learn French and German. I am working on French right now, and I learn a little bit more with every attempt, and some day far in the future I might even be able to hold a conversation :)

Don't judge me, but I never learned how to ride a bike as a kid. This is one of my biggest regrets. I'd love to learn, but not a lot of people want to volunteer their bikes for this :/ or spend the afternoon watching a grown woman fall off it, haha.

Share: I am happy to share my cooking/baking skills with any host. I love to cook and bake and I'm happy to attempt any food or baked good you would like!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to cook for you! Other than that I am happy to share stories and a generally positive attitude with everyone I meet.
