About Me

I am a contemporary dance choreographer, performer, teacher, traveler, food-lover, coffee-addict from Minnesota who has landed in Tangier, Morocco and somehow found a home here. After doing a solo backpacking trip around Europe for 9 months, I lived in Berlin for a bit studying new styles of contemporary dance, then began to crave some sun which is what brought me down to Morocco. I now live there indefinitely with my fellow travel-loving husband, working as a freelance choreographer creating performances with various artistic organizations in Tangier, plus a day job as a dance and fitness instructor. I believe in taking risks, challenging oneself, being open to everything and expecting nothing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and getting the inside experience of new places. You won't catch me dead on a guided tour. Show me your secret places.

Interests

My interests range from listening to almost any kind of hip hop or rap music to reading Jane Austen. I love to dance anytime and anywhere, meet new people wherever I go, take bike rides and walks, do yoga, cook and bake delicious things to share, and go on road trips with good music and good friends. I am interested in photography, literature, finding places in the world that take your breath away, and discovering the perfect chocolate chip cookie. That is me in a nutshell.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Everything and anything to which you can dance and even some things you can't. I draw a line at American country music and things that are too atonal. I absolutely love to watch live symphonies and string music and yet I also frequently dance around my apartment to modern rap and hip hop. I am all over the spectrum.

Movies: Honestly I'm more of a TV-series kind of person, but as a compromise I will say how much I love BBC mini-series.

Books: I am a determined reader. In our busy lives reading is often the quiet thing that goes out the window along with our peace and sanity, but I am motivated to not let that happen. I love reading the classics, surrealist fiction, and non-fiction books exploring faith and philosophy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Morocco happens to be one of the major international hubs for filming movies from all over the world, and if you know the right people you can get in on the fun. I was lucky enough to have the chance to be a stunt and picture double for an upcoming series set on Mars, which meant that I spent about 2 weeks running around the Saraha desert in a full-on space suit. It was a surreal and incredible experience.
