I'm a 27 year old man living in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland. I'm originally from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.

I graduated from Dalhousie University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Philosophy and a Minor in Gender and Women's Studies.

Since graduating university I lived in Nova Scotia until 2018 working as a union organiser, a community organiser, and as a counselor in a group-home for adults with intellectual disabilities. Now I do family support work at Enable Ireland and volunteer with an emotional support listening service.

I'm in Ireland with a two year working holiday visa (September 2018 - September 2020). I came to immerse myself in Irish music but I keep getting distracted!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I happen to have the extra space, so I want to use it to help people out and meet other travellers. I'm hoping to meet people from parts of the world that I want to travel to (which, right now, is everywhere), but especially parts of Europe while I'm living in Ireland.

Interests

I play Irish traditional music on the flute and whistle. I mostly play in traditional music sessions around town and get together with friends to play tunes.

I love chess and board games! I play in a chess league, and there's a weekly board game night here with some great people.

I'm doing a bit of training with Mountaineering Ireland and I do a lot of hillwalking and rock climbing in surrounding areas like the Burren, Connemara, Killarney, and the Galtees. If you're into that stuff let me know 🙂

I'm an active member of People Before Profit, a socialist political party in Ireland. I'm also active in the Socialist Workers Network, United Against Racism, and local struggles for social justice. (If you're conservative or right-wing in any way feel free to keep quiet about it!)

I drink socially. I don't smoke or use drugs but I respect and welcome people who do.

I like teaching music theory and technique. I always have extra penny whistles around for anyone who wants to learn!

I'm interested in learning languages, new art forms, and about plants, gardening, and farming. I'm also re-learning how to play guitar after having not played for almost ten years and I would love some help with that!

I love to share my music. I also like talking about social movements and political struggles. I also like sharing food.
