ABOUT ME

Hi!
I'm currently working as a Whitewater Raft Guide in New Zealand but i'm moving over to Canada at the end of April to raft and travel and go on as many adventures as possible!
I love anything outdoors from whitewater kayaking to tramping and everything in between. I play guitar and love having a jam or a singalong around a campfire!
I studied outdoor guiding at a place called the Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits centre and since then have done various jobs in the outdoors from pest control, track building in Franz Josef Glacier and guiding rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, canyoning, caving etc.
I'm pretty easy going and love meeting new people and spinning a few yarns!

PHILOSOPHY

Well i could list a whole bunch of cheesy motivational quotes but i think you can pretty much guess the live each day to the fullest sorta thing! I love getting out there and giving everything a go and the more adventures i'm doing the happier i am!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I only just heard about this site recently on a hitchhiking mission so havn't done much participating yet! I'm hoping to surf a few couches in canada and then return the favour once i'm back in New Zealand!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Nothing official! Given a few hitchhikers a place to stay and have also stayed on a few couches when i've been hitching...not sure that counts though!

Interests

Anything outdoors!
Massively into kayaking but i love anything that involves a bit of an adventure. I'm pretty into my music also, and play the guitar and am always keen on a singalong. Also just hanging out with friends and family and meeting new people! And very keen on travel although i havn't done heaps yet...can't wait!

I like heapsa music. I like older stuff like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Pink Floyd etc.
Newer stuff i like alternative/indie i guess??
Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, Black Keys, Shins, Bright eyes, A.A Bondy, Band of Horses, Kings of Leon etc.
But other stuff 2! Especially NZ music

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing Mount Moltke in the southern alps of New Zealand. Beautiful blue sky day had a 360 degree of Mount Cook (highest mountain in NZ), the Neve of the Franz Josef Glacier, the headwaters of various west coast rivers and the coast!

Kayaking down the Motu River in the North island of NZ. 3 day trip through some of the most amazing gorges and scenery coupled with primo whitewater!

Waking up at a NZ South island beach in my van and seeing dolphins playing just out from the beach. Amazing.
