À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

voyage to the continent

ABOUT ME

Sani Lama. Female. 19.

Soon to start third year at the university of Sheffield, studying Architecture and Landscape. Originally from Nottingham, my family moved to the deep south of America for a few years, but ultimately I was raised and grew up in a town called Hessle, just outside of Hull, England. Hull is where I call home, and where I hope I will always return. But for now, I have out grown it, flown the nest.

I love to witness/ appreciate the intricacy of good design (in any form) and imagine the thought process behind it. After all everything we come into contact with has been designed. I try to always carry a sketchbook, journal, and camera (when I remember to charge it) with me. I love nothing more than to get lost in a moment, trying to capture a moment.

PHILOSOPHY

two quotes sum up my philosophy;

"Everybody knows something you do not" &
"The universe is under no obligation to make sense to you"

I think both of these quotations remind us to keep an open mind.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I do not have any experience in the couchsurfing world, but hope to/look forward to gaining plenty in time. I want to really immerse myself in new cultures and experiences and know that this way of travelling and meeting people will be so beneficial. I only hope I can be as much of a benefit in return.

Centres d'intérêt

Architecture, Art, Landscape design, Benefits of good design to community in general, writing and of course food.
I enjoy social environments as they come and will always welcome a new face.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

My music/ film taste have been completely erratic over the years, so it is difficult to know how to fill this section out, but I have always loved a jazz concert. In fact the atmosphere of any live event is often pretty irresistible. At the moment I am partial to a smooth reggae beat and general chilled tones.

In terms of books, I enjoy light reading, a favourite of mine would be 'Miss Pettigrew lives for a day'.
I also find the greatest satisfaction in finding non-fiction books which can be just as captivating as any. My favourite being 'Mother Tongue' by Bill Bryson. I can rely on this book like an old friend.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

What is one amazing thing you have seen or done in your lifetime?
This experience is not limited to one time, which is a beautiful and exciting prospect.
I am half Nepalese, and am fortunate enough to have engaged with this beautiful country on several occasions. Every time I go I am still blown away with the serenity of the distant villages and the vibrancy of the multicoloured, pulsating cities.
There are too many things I could talk about for hours but one of the most enchanting things about Nepal for me, is the enthusiasm and geniality of people, both tourists and locals. Although the country is poor, the spirit, culture and religion is thriving and I love going back there.
