About Me

I am a very happy person, have sometimes a strange humor and love being active. When I am not studying I go out to see the world.
Currently I live with my boyfriend in the beautiful little city of Leiden in the Netherlands. Here I study a Master in Occupational Health Psychology. By origin I am half English, half German, born in the first, raised in the second.

Since I currently mainly host people, I will introduce my boyfriend, too, since we live together. He is Patrick, dutch, 27 years old and works as an international tax consultant. Otherwise he is interested in Philosophy and is a rather calm and relaxed personality. We met on the Camino de Santiago, which he walked from North Holland so he is a true hiker and not at all like one would imagine a tax consultant ;)

PHILOSOPHY

"The borders of my language are the borders of my world."
-Wittgenstein

The biggest challenge in life is being yourself. In a world trying to make you like everyone else.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Once again I moved to a new country and once again I hope that I will easily meet openminded people through couchsurfing. Whenever I started searching over CS after moving to a new place, I was amazed by how fast I could make new friends, sports partners and find out about so many local activities going on.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I started going to CS evens in Perth (WA) and I loved them!
Climbing, Ultimate Frizbee or having a drink with this so open community. It is nice that there are people who organize events and bring everybody who wants to join together. Currently I mainly host because I have not that much time to travel and explore. So I try to travel a bit through the stories of people we host.

Interests

I love traveling, learning languages, learning things about other cultures , trying as many new things as possible and I love the thrill like at cliffdiving, skydiving etc.
One of my favourite hobbies is to go diving. Currently I am an advanced scuba diver. The best place where I have been diving were the Gilis between Bali and Lombok. Incredible!
Otherwise I am outgoing and into hiking, the beach, gardening (mainly vegetables, sadly only on my balcony) having good talks, and working on ideas.
Nowadays my working and studying-life has become more busy, so I don't get to do all the fun stuff as often I used to a few years ago.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: People playing the guitar and singing is something I really fancy
Movies: happy ones and love stories (I'm the awfull movie-type-person)
Book: informative ones about certain topics I am interested in Cognition and Neuroscience, but also books as of Paulo Coelho, and whatever else falls into my hands.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My Pilgrimage on the Way of Saint James: ~800km from Saint Jean Pied de Port (in South France) to Santiago de Compostela in West Spain.
It took me 32 days with one day of pausing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share: Spanish, English, German, Dutch, growing freckles (just kidding :D ), German food, English breakfast, playing the clarinet, dutch food (my boyfriend is dutch), gardening tipps

I think there is nothing I absolutely don't want to learn. I'm interested in improving my Spanish, improving my Chinese (mandarin) skills, learning saxophone, learning the American sign language, cooking

What I Can Share with Hosts

I was told I spread positive energy to where ever I am and motivate people to all sorts of things. So I'd say I can share lots of positive vibes :-)

If you want to stay with me I recommend you to read the section "my home", it has both random and usefull information. Since I get requests nearly every day during spring and summer I nearly only accept poeple who show interest in not only a free bed, but in a real couchsurfing experience. One of the expectations I have is that travelers requesting me read my profile.
