About Me

ABOUT ME

This account was started by our daughter Marne when she was about to enter college. Now that she is graduating, it seems best for us to identify ourselves as the true hosts of your next visit to Mankato. As our daughter first wrote, "my parents are sweet, good-hearted people with a lot of extra space in their house (I'm the last kid to leave the nest). Both Sarah and Bob Stover are very genuine and welcoming, and they are used to hosting people from all over Europe, South America and now also from Uzbekistan. They're close to retirement and love meeting new people, lending a helping hand and laying out the welcome mat." We look forward to meeting our next visitor. Is that you?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have three potential bedrooms (all with real mattresses), a shower, toiletries, transportation (if necessary), perhaps a cooked meal, cereal, coffee... It's a beautiful 1930s house in a really nice centrally located area. There are also adorable coffee shops and bakeries, within walking distance if you're interested. We'd love to give you a tour/recommendation if you'd like when we're not busy. We also live in/near several colleges, so we have lots of cheap, nice restaurants and bars. Oh, and we have two super friendly dogs (you'll love them, I promise)!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A few years ago, our son had to figure out how he could stay in New York for a few nights a week to avoid daily bus rides (and it had to be cheap). He introduced us to Couchsurfing! Being able to stay with a host a few nights a week made things A LOT less stressful for Kyle, and he would rave about the people he met. My husband and I used to host foreign exchange students a lot, and we love meeting new people, so we thought we'd try it! So far every person/family we've met has been friendly, interesting, respectful, and overall wonderful, so after almost 6 years in the Couchsurfing game, we're still here!
