About Me

Hello fellow Couchsurfers!

I’m Sara, a globe-trotter at heart with a passion for discovering new cultures, cuisines, and connections. Originally from Slovenia, I’ve found that my happiest moments come from sharing stories under starlit skies, exploring bustling marketplaces, or simply having a cup of coffee with a new friend.

I work from home (content creation, web page design), which has given me the incredible opportunity to have a slower and more peaceful life. When I’m not working, you can find me cooking, reading, sewing, playing board games, drawing, baking, gardening, walking around barefoot, making diamond paintings or trying to solve my next GeoCache riddle.

I joined Couchsurfing because I believe in the power of community and the kindness of strangers. There’s something magical about meeting people who start as guests or hosts and become lifelong friends. I’m always eager to learn from the diverse experiences and perspectives that each traveler brings.

As a host, I love to share my favorite local spots and perhaps even cook a traditional meal from my region, but i also like my own time and space. Depends on the day. As a guest, I’m respectful, tidy, and always up for lending a hand with daily chores. My travel style is backpacking, and I’m particularly interested in getting to know people from different cultures and getting a glimpse into their daily life.

Whether we find ourselves sharing stories, silence, or spontaneous adventures, I look forward to the connection we will make. Let’s create unforgettable memories!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At its core, my reason for joining Couchsurfing is rooted in a profound belief in the goodness of humanity and the endless possibilities that come from genuine, heartfelt connections. Travel for me is much more than just ticking places off a list; it's about immersing myself in the local culture, understanding different ways of life, and building bridges across the vast tapestry of global diversity.

Couchsurfing presents an unparalleled opportunity to not just visit a place, but to live it, even if just for a short while. Through the eyes of locals, every destination becomes a living, breathing entity, full of stories, secrets, and surprises waiting to be discovered. Whether it's learning how to make traditional dishes, understanding the local customs, or finding those hidden gems that only locals know about, each experience enriches my life in ways I could never have imagined.

But more than the places, it's the people that truly define my Couchsurfing experience. I'm here to meet individuals from all walks of life, to exchange stories, laughter, and insights, and to forge friendships that transcend geographical boundaries. I believe that every person we meet is a book, waiting to be read, and I'm eager to listen and share in the spirit of mutual respect and understanding.

On a practical level, Couchsurfing also aligns with my approach to travel – sustainable, responsible, and community-oriented. It's about giving as much as receiving, whether it's a couch to sleep on, a meal to share, or a piece of advice that makes someone's journey a bit easier.

In essence, I'm on Couchsurfing to be part of a global family, to learn, to grow, and to contribute to making the world a smaller, friendlier place. If my journey resonates with you, I look forward to sharing a slice of life together, exploring the world one conversation at a time.

Interests

Geocaching: There's something incredibly thrilling about geocaching. It combines my love for adventure, exploration, and the great outdoors in a unique way. Each geocache feels like a secret shared between strangers and a treasure hunt that takes me to unexpected places. I love how this hobby encourages me to explore hidden nooks of cities and untouched parts of nature alike. Whether you're a seasoned geocacher or new to the game, I'm always up for an adventure!

Board Games: Board games are a fantastic way to break the ice, have fun, and challenge the mind, all while fostering camaraderie. I have a growing collection of games ranging from strategic to silly, and I'm always eager to learn new ones. Game nights are a favorite way of mine to spend an evening, filled with laughter and friendly competition.

Cooking: Cooking is not just a daily necessity for me; it's a way to travel the world from my kitchen, experimenting with flavors and techniques from different cuisines. There's something magical about the way ingredients come together to create something delicious and comforting. I enjoy hosting dinner parties and turning meals into memorable experiences. If you're interested, we could cook a meal together or I could whip up a dish from my repertoire to share a taste of my culture.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in India when i was 19. I had horrible panic attacks in highschool so i knew i had to do something drastic and moving to India was one of the toughest things i've done. Broke up with my boyfriend there, got rid of my horrible fear of nausea and then came back home and immediately moved to Athens Greece for another half a year or so. When i finally really came back, the panic attacks were gone and i learned to appreciate my life more.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love trying new foods, so we could maybe share some recipes from our homeland.
