About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To share my passion for learning and science with others.
ABOUT ME
Nerdy, funny, surprisingly good cook, weird, hard working, helpful.
PHILOSOPHY
Be happy, have fun, live passionately, have adventures. If an opportunity for a new experience presents itself, go for it!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosting and meeting new friends in Indianapolis...and now Tampa
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've attended CS events in Indianapolis and they're a lot of fun. I've stayed at hostels before, which is fine. Stayed with someone from Craigslist once, but I think this is going to be a far safer way of meeting people to stay with overnight. I have hosted 2 CSers.
Interests
Science, learning (and teaching), craft beers, bourbon, food and cooking, photography, documenting, creating useful things.
I used to teach awesome science to kids (back in Indiana) but since I moved to Florida I have a job in retail. I spend my time bicycling, exercising, going to concerts & listening to good music, cooking & eating, reading, drinking phenomenal beer at the breweries here in the Tampa Bay area, taking photos, and seeking out new experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love Scott Miller and the Commonwealth and Slobberbone...2 of my favorite bands. Some of my future couchsurfing will likely have to do with attending concerts. I enjoy going to music festivals and camping during the spring-summer-fall.
Other great bands I'm into:
Houndmouth, J. Roddy Walston and the Business, the Lumineers, Devil Makes Three, Counting Crows, They Might Be Giants, Heartless Bastards, Langhorn Slim & the Law.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw a giant leatherback sea turtle laying eggs at night on a beach in Costa Rica...right after I experienced an earthquake for the first time. I'm in awe of the world at large.
Seeing a person do something kind for another person (or especially an animal) without expecting a reward. I try to keep faith in humanity, but sometimes it's hard.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach people about cooking, how to swim, how to weave beads (Native American Indian style), about bourbon, about beer, and lots of stuff about science. I'm passionate about learning new things and having new experiences and that tends to rub off on those around me. I'd like to learn more about brewing beer...I surely drink a lot of it!
What I Can Share with Hosts
We have a guest bedroom with a queen size bed, plus a couch and floor space...also a big yard if you're a tent camper. I will provide sheet, towels, and can even set you up with shampoo and such if you're running low.
Unfortunately you won't be able to come and go as you please, you'll have to make sure one of us is home to let you in and out. The house has an alarm system and is easy biking/walking distance from one of Tampa's best craft beer bars (1 mile to The Independent). I have a car (to give you a ride) and an extra bike you can use if you want to explore the historic neighborhoods (Ybor City, Tampa Heights, Seminole Heights) and downtown.
I have a CAT, so if you are severely allergic to cats I would not be a good host for you.
