I recently updated my passport and it asked what my occupation was on the form. I filled in “Artist.”

I felt totally cheesy at first. But now I felt great about it! :)

I have been many other things in my life. A mildly successful Actor to Professional Photographer to Screenwriter and Director. Realizing it's always about storytelling in a visual medium. I've also always loved to work with my hands and build things. Houses, van geekery, pottery, rope swings, costumes and tree forts.

It was funny but after the Passport Declaration Event, I also knew what it meant to be creative - to create things. That's what I like to do and what I will always do. After years of doing that, I'm finally able to get paid for it sometimes!

I've recently been through a crazy year - heart surgery, not drinking anymore and living my life with intention as much as possible has opened up a new way of living the rest of this short time I have. I'm not interested in stuff. I want less. I want more freedom and connection and more life.

Having a near death experience and recovery has made me realize how grateful I can be everyday of the people in my life who love me and the health that I'm so lucky to have and am working to maintain. I am looking for understanding and connection and making sure the people I love know that I feel that way about them.

I'm a devoted surfer and after a year of recovery from my surgery I am working towards a life long goal of getting "tubbed" "shacked "green roomed" - I want to be covered up in a barrel of a wave before I die. :)

I love yoga and want to work on the practice of staying present and in the moment. Also the physical exercise is amazing!

I am not spiritual and I am an Atheist.

I believe in western medicine and that chakras are bullshit. I understand why people want these things in their life so I'm not here to judge but I'm also not looking to be taught any path or religion that has worked for you. I'm more that happy to TALK about all of that, I love a good conversation as long as it leads to more understanding between both parties.

It's not my goal to convince you of anything and I ask for the same level of respect if we do end up surfing together - on a couch or on the water. ;)

I do not drink alcohol but I'm not a freak about it - I love the taste of wine but don't want to get drunk. If you are a drinker - good on you! I'll happily supply you with some homemade vino from my family’s winery. (It's not that fancy - homebrew sort of situation)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Love talking and meeting people who are different and interesting as long as everyone is respectful.

I live on an amazing 15 acre redwood forest part-time in Sonoma County and I love it. I would be honored to host some travelers to the area and help fellow open minded adventurers and share some stories, knowledge and experiences.

The other half of the time I am working in Los Angeles and surfing couches and waves! The Westside makes me happy.

I am 1/2 way through a year of photographing the sunrise every morning! So that's 1/2 amazing, I guess. Ha!
