I think about food a lot. My day job requires minimal human interaction (I work from home ) so sometimes I forget how to behave around humans. I work part-time as a petsitter (mostly dogs). Based on my experience, alcohol, drinking games, and food are very good ice breakers.

So I can travel to many places without breaking the bank and learn more about the food, history, culture, landmarks, and daily life things from you instead of the internet. Finding new eating and/or drinking buddies is also a plus!
