About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Working as a Tree-surgeon. Farming regeneratively. Lecturing Forestry. Planting more trees. Playing with the Dogs. This is a doggy house and if you don't like huge dogs you mightn't be comfortable. There are also sheep and pigs on the farm, and lots of trees and tools. This is a farm.

ABOUT ME

I was born in Dublin an moved down to west cork when i was about 5 an went farming. My parents went from city life to working the land, we had a huge poly tunnel for growing food an an average size farm with mostly sheep, but sometimes cattle an always chickens or geese. I grew up on a Honda 50, best motorbike ever built, herding sheep around an engaging in general farm tomfoolery, building towers from bales of hay with tunnels through them.
After school i went to live in the woods in a hazel framed, canvas skinned cosy tent, an have been since. Punctuated with various travel excursions.
My daughter Aoibhin was born 21 years ago, she is a legend an lives in Killarney. She comes to visit often. As a result, the tents have become cosier an bigger until this latest one is more akin to a house. All over a big pool fed by a stream from the wooded hill behind.
My house runs on 100% wind and solar power. I have been running a 2.8 turbo 4x4 on 100% waste vegetable oil for 10 years and 300,000km.
I am a WWOOF host and enjoy growing food and caring for my 13 hectares of young woodland where I farm Shropshire sheep and Kune Kune pigs, as well as a big garden.

Motorcycling is a part of my genetic code.

Raido, Bran and Sceolan are my Scottish Deerhound best friends and I love the smell of them.

I am raw, energetic, playful, childish, decisive, passionate, social, sensitive, explosive, generous and kind.

PHILOSOPHY

A Jedi's strength flows from The Force.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have traveled all over these islands an the eurasian continent, sometimes walking, cycling, backpacking or motorcycling. Everywhere i have ever been people have bent over backwards with hospitality for me, especially in poorer countries in central asia, people have brought me home, fed me, helped me fix my bike, helped me get visas, have gone 200km out of their way for me, so now am finished building my house i wish to try to return that openess to new people, that i have so often experienced, so far away from home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been host to more than a hundred travelers in the past three years since joining couchsurfing an have made some great friendships, I have been hosted a little here and in France and Morocco. I hope to participate more next year as a guest.
