About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"Don't underestimate the value of doing nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering."

PHILOSOPHY

Independence is my happiness, and I view things as they are, without regard to place or person; my country is the world, and my religion is to do good. ~Thomas Paine, 1791~

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I can't provide a couch to anyone since I don't have my own place, but whenever possible I will be more than happy to host people. Meanwhile I'm hoping to be hosted and meeting new people during my travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed a few couch but unfortunately - due to my living arrangements - haven't been able to host anyone yet, but I'm hoping to get there as soon as possible. Anyway, all the couchsurfers I've met during my previous trips have been amazing people and I'm so glad to have met them.

Interests

People; everyone from everywhere. I get along with everybody, but I don't like everyone. It doesn't matter if they really share the same interests as me, since there's always something new to learn.

Books; there are times when I just can't focus on reading and there are times when I forget to sleep because I can't keep my hands off from a good book.

Handicrafts; I like to create things with my hands as long as it doesn't involve drawing (I can do a fine stick-figure tho :)). But knitting, stitching etc. I really enjoy. Starting is my favorite part, but finishing something.... that's a whole different story :P usually I get there eventually tho :)

Music; I can't say I know much about music or that I really even understand it or that I remember the names of the bands or the songs... but I like listening to it, all kinds of it. And I like to listen to people who know about music and can tell stories about the bands and the songs. I also think that the best way to experience something REAL in the places you visit, is listening to a local musician and local music.

Languages; I've studied a bunch at school and I'm eager to learn new ones. My goal is to learn atleast few frases (that actually make sense) of the local language before travelling to somewhere and a few more while staying there (the crazier the better. My favorite must be "Ich habe eine pantzerwagen in meine lederhosen." or something... meaning that "I have a tank in my leatherpants.").

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not good with movies, don't have enough patience to watch them at home, but Love. Eat. Pray. must be my current favorite... When I do watch movies, it's usually when I'm ill or hangovered and then it needs to be funny, simple, romantic... or Disney cartoons from which Peter Pan is my ultimate favorite! Oh, and Lion King of course!

My music taste is totally connected to my mood and the environment I'm in so it's impossible to pick up any favorites. On everyday life tho I mostly listen to finnish reggae and finnish pop/rock.

Books then... hmmm... well, like a cazillion other people in the world, I still need to say Harry Potters since I still get exited with them, even after reading them 5 times. And the other classic, Davinci Code, it's just pure awesomenes.
Eat. Pray. Love was even better as a book than a movie, higly recommend.
All in all I read pretty much what ever I find from my mum's bookshelf (and it's a lot, she owns a bookstore).

Oh, I almost forgot.. The Little Prince! Children's book written to adults and no matter how many times you read it, you always find something new. And no matter how sad or happy I feel I always find a connection with and comfort from the story.
