About Me

2023 Update
I travel a lot for work and to fill my soul. My home base is Boise. In Winter, I’m mostly on a snowboarding trip, or in Sunny LA. Reach out, you never know. In Spring you’ll find me at Treefort Music Fest in downtown Boise, or in Sun Valley at the film festival, or on the mountain. In the Summer I’m cruising bikes on the Greenbelt, floating the river, or at a show at Outlaw Field at the Botanical Gardens. Amazing travels and I hope we get to connect! I can always share tips on Boise!

————————————————————————
My journey began with a challenge. A childhood friend boasted he was headed to South America to learn Spanish and explore. I was in awe. How could he do this? We were regular kids. I worked almost full time and went to college full time.

“Yeah, man. I’m going.”
“Where?”
“I don’t know. Wherever my pen lands on the map in South America.”
“WTF!” (We didn’t use acronyms to express ourselves back in 1999)
“I mean, why not?”
“Do you have a plan?”
“Not really.”
“You have money?”
“Some. It’ll work out.”
“How?”

Thus the trap was set. The mystery of what could be got me. The world is such a big place. I needed to see it. It took three days to come to my senses. What a ridiculous thought... abandoning my responsibilities, going to a third world infamous for abductions, and unrest, so I had been told, derailing my education track... nah... Wait a minute. Why not? Is time not spent regardless? That introspective weekend derailed my life course permanently. Normalcy lost to possibility. I was lost. Lost in the jungles and cloud forests of Ecuador. Lost in the ocean playing tag with sea lions in the Galapagos. Lost in a Spanish colonial bedroom reading more than I had in school. Lost in conversation in a language other than my first. Lost to new potentials. And so it began, the deviation of my education. My friend never ended up going. I was scared, and alone. I couldn’t have been happier.

From the moment I landed, people came forward to assist me in my journey. There’s always been angels out there willing to aid travelers. Couch Surfing makes them a little easier to be found. My experience using Couch Surfing since joining in 2016...

I find it comfortable to keep my clothes on when others are in my home, or I’m in others’. Weird, I know. (This is sarcasm). To each his own. This is a social app, not a dating app. I have had a CS romance or two. This is happenstance, not a goal. I have no expectations from you, please don’t have any of me. Time flies, enjoy it. Don’t make it stressful, or anxiety ridden. Respect time by not watching it too closely, but don’t keep others hanging too long. My schedule often fluctuates due to my career. Being an actor, imdb.me/seanmscott, I’m working until they call wrap. Some of my guests get much more of my time and guidance than others. Just how the dice rolls. When I’m your guest, I follow rules, and come with stories!

Friend requests: I likely won’t add you if we haven’t met. No one needs a long list of people they have never met. Stay positive, and always remain open.

To see who’s on the other side of the door. We’ve never experienced this level of access to other people around the world. I’d rather dance with you than follow your digital footprint.

Music, Movies, and Books

All of it! Milan Kundera and Charles Bukowski are a few of my favorite authors. P.T. Anderson films. Blade Runner, and the list goes on and on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Why just one?
- Herded sheep w/ guachos on horseback in Rivera do Sul.
- Climbed the exterior of a 12-story building to splice into cable tv for a girl with whom I was enamored.
- Experienced the death of the Sucre and Dollarization of Ecuador.
- ParaOlympics in Rio.
- Best man in a statesman wedding in Tokyo, followed by karaoke, completely lost in translation.
- Slept in/on: benches, bathtubs, parks, castles, penthouses, cars, trains, planes, cobblestone streets.
- Cobblestone street night was w/ my gf at the time as there were no more vacancies the night before the Tomatina in Buñol!
- Swam across Lake Bled, Slovenia, to the church. Only recommend this for very strong swimmers.
- Tear gassed in Ecuador and Venezuela during social upheaval riots.
- Around the world in 12 days, however I do not recommend this. My body was wrecked from long flights even though my soul was rich with love from time with old friends in Croatia, and new friends in Korea.
