About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Fall in love, not in line

ABOUT ME

I grew up in a small town in Germany, but I soon started to drive my parents mad because I wanted to go everywhere. After finishing high school, I spent one year (minus two or three months travelling around Asia) living and working in Shanghai. Many of my friends often say that I have too much energy because I always want to do something and try new things.

I'm just starting to get active on couchsurfing.org, but I think it's an amazing idea because you'll meet even more friendly and open minded people on your travels!

PHILOSOPHY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far only as a traveller and participant in several meet-ups while I lived in Berlin and Beijing. While my college room is way too small to host anyone in Oxford, I can show people around the city if they're interested.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A really helpful first host ever in Kyoto, a great night out in the same city, a party next to the Japanese sea and meetings with some great people in Taiwan and Hong Kong - and re-meetups in London. Two unforgettable days with shared dinner in Amsterdam.

Interests

Hiking, cycling, martial arts (Kung Fu and Takewondo), learning new languages, writing, cooking, music, writing, talking

I love to learn new recipes and things about other cuisines and would happily offer some in return :)

Two of my past side jobs:
No. 1: being projectionist at a small local cinema with an amazingly motivated team that's willing to sacrifice lots of free time to organize special events where it's all about the movie experience.

And No. 2: Working for an internet radio, choosing the music for the listeners but also interacting with them at the same which is an amazing feedback systems so the whole thing is even more fun.

Music, Movies, and Books

I tend to listen to rock music, but I really am open for anything and if I like something, I'll just add it to my playlist, so I also listen to mainstream artists and even rap at times - current favorites include Gun'n'Roses, Secondhand Serenade, Black Eyed Peas' "Elephunk" and Miyavi's "What's my name", Ed Sheeran

Same goes for books and movies - I'm not so much fixed on a genre. Recently, I especially enjoyed Haruki Murakami, some German slightly absurd and comical Fantasy and a Maigret novel recently.

As for movies, I often rely on the recommendations of some of my friends, recent discoveries include "Carnage" and I also really liked an old French movie called "Jules et Jim".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Tiger Leaping Gorge in China's Yunnan Province. I went hiking there for two days and it was just breathtaking - the snowcapped mountains around you and the river down below. The way down to the river at the end was especially rewarding! And then there was the night we camped in the Gobi desert in central China - pretty breathtaking.
