About Me

I moved to the US as a kid, where we bounced around a bit before settling down in the NYC suburbs. I then bounced around some more after college, and finally moved to Poughkeepsie in May of 2015. I had lived here once before, for a year, so I was already familiar with it, and have been volunteering with the local Habitat chapter for years.

I have a project I am working on in my free time. I meant to be in economic development after college, but on my own terms. Not the kind you've heard about on This American Life, where Arizona tries to poach Californian companies. And some stuff happened, and I had to do taxes for, like, the longest. In the meantime, I formed certain opinions on how the world works. So now I am working on an idea to facilitate profitable real estate investments in economically depressed areas in a non-exploitative way. It's taking forever. :-)

In the course of building bridges across the community, I host dinner parties from time to time.

There is a cat who lives here. I have to do what she says. Also, some people live upstairs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to help. If you're looking for a place to crash, you can stay on my couch. Also, hey, mind if I crash on your couch?

Interests

I like to do stuff locally. I prefer local businesses to chains. I seek opportunities to apply existing skills and develop new skills in pursuit of a stronger and more inclusive local economy.

Getting out there and doing tangible physical work, like Habitat or field work at the CSA, sucks hard but is also so totally enjoyable.

As of this writing, I'm pursuing the Bard MBA in Sustainability, which (along with the projects I have taken on) is keeping me too busy for much else, although I try to carve out as much time as I can for community involvement.

Music, Movies, and Books

Metropolis, 1927, by Fritz Lang.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Still working on it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Lemme get back to this later.

What I Can Share with Hosts

You can share pretty much everything. My roommates and I are pretty good listeners, we like to think. We're not going to judge you, so feel free to let loose, sometimes it's good simply to articulate.

Oh. Yeah, we'll have towels you can use, and sheets and stuff like that, and eat our food, and so forth. We're pretty communal.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, French Polynesia, Germany, India, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, Switzerland, Tanzania, Tonga, United States
