About Me

Hey everyone! Originally from South Carolina, spent the past 5 years living in New York, soon to be traveling and living in Haiti.
I love traveling and adventuring outdoors. I prefer to spend my time outside of the city, hiking or cycling. I've been known to drag my kayak on the subway.
I've lived and worked in East Africa and India, traveled some in Central America, and attempted (rather unsuccessfully) to learn salsa dancing in Chile. In all of these places, I've been amazed by the hospitality of people who are willing to open their homes and share their culture.
Favorite job: Running a homeless shelter in NYC that provides housing to refugees. Passionate about welcoming migrants and connecting with communities and people that do. I love connecting with other people who have a passion for learning other cultures, for service, or humanitarianism. When I'm not working, I like to spend my time bread baking, swing dancing, or riding my bike around the city.

Music, Movies, and Books

Bluegrass music, folk music, anything you can dance to, and Nigerian pop. :) (PSquare anyone?)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A motorcyle trip through Rwanda, and a hitchhiking trip through Malawi. A 4-day cycling trip from Montpellier, France to Barcelona, Spain

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll teach Spanish/English in exchange for French, swing dancing in exchange for salsa, and biscuit baking/southern cooking in exchange for access to your stove. I'll also be working on my photography, so anyone who wants to walk around and take pictures with me, I would love it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Conversation, cooking, an introduction to the better parts of American culture that you don't see on TV.

Countries I’ve Visited
