About Me

Salut every rolling stone. My name is Nhat Tan, from Vietnam. I'm now a student studying Communication in Romania. I'm open-minded, sharing, friendly, curious about culture and history, hungry for knowledge, haha, and willing to listen and talk to you. Nice to meet you.

My philosophy: "Every journey of a thousand miles begins with the courage of the smallest steps".
I used to be a lost person and was always afraid to try new things and be my true self. However, the more I begin to be a solo traveler, the more profoundly and deeply I realize that this world is so enormous and packed with colorfully cultural varieties, and life is too short to be concerned about what others think and gossip behind my back. And sometimes in this life, taking a little risk and being a little braver to step out of our comfort zone may change our own perspective of the world, our social interaction, and our true self inside. Besides, solo traveling assists me a lot in self-education as before every trip to another country, I read books, and watch documentaries about that country's history, culture, people, customs, habits, society, cuisine, and landmarks to enrich my knowledge and even compare or learn good things from that country to improve my country's situation or dispel any misinformation casted on the Internet about that nation.

I love to discuss in-depth topics with strangers to see how they think and feel about that topic because we are individuals born, raised and developed in different environments, cultures, beliefs or even our DNA are different. So I'm on ears to everything you can share and I will be glad to share mine back.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My slogan for this is "Living with the locals is to live one more another life"
The reason why I'm on Couchsurfing is to adapt to local people's lives, listen to everything they can share about their country, and learn more about history and culture. And I'm willing to share back everything I know with you.
Besides that, I want to make new, interesting, and varied friends anywhere I travel to. Life is too short to just circle your like-minded people. It's nothing different like you isolate yourself on a restricted island

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I departed my hometown which is 2000km away to the capital of Vietnam - Hanoi to pursue my major at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. From there, I ripped off my cover, made new friends, and adapted to a new culture because the culture, habits, and customs of Vietnam are separated into two different types: North and South. That's when I became more mature in my behaviors and attitudes.

After that, I achieved the Romanian Government Scholarship to study in Europe due to my hard work and now I'm enjoying my student life here by traveling, learning, connecting, and adapting.
I'm learning every day to discover my true self and pursue my dreams.

And so many things I will tell you when we meet

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share and help you learn more about Asian cultures, and discuss many topics related to politics, culture, and religion, sociology.
I also want to discover more about your country's culture, cuisine, society, and landscapes there.

What I Can Share with Hosts

At the moment, I can only share the groceries with the host due to the fact being a student. I really want to cook together with you guys and learn more about the food and cuisine.
And of course some souvenirs from Vietnam, Romania.
If you like listen to Vietnamese folk songs, i will be glad to sing for you.
