**ABOUT US**

Me and my husband Vasio are from Aotearoa (New Zealand).

I am Samoan, English and Vasio is Samoan, Fijian. We are both young professionals on the cusp of our 30s currently living in our home city of Auckland.

Having grown up in Oceania, and being from the Pacific - we come from big island families, and love nature particularly the ocean/moana! We are friendly, easy to laugh with, interested in people, culture, history, and of course - food!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing looks like an awesome way to get a well-rounded experience of connecting with locals and sharing in a community.

We decided to join too as we are taking a break from work later this year and are travelling to Mexico in September to start our backpacking adventure around Mexico and South America.

Music, Movies, and Books

Between us we have a huge variety of interests including many genres of music.

For myself (Tesa) - I like the band Kruangbin, Bandalos Chinos, absolutely adore old school music as in Earth, Wind and Fire, the Eagles, Diana Ross, and the Temptations. Artists like Eva Cassidy, Cleo Sol, H.E.R, the list goes on. Vasio is a true R&B, Soul man - bit of lounge and always hip hop, 90s rap.

We both like animated films, Prince of Egypt (traaack) and yes being from NZ, we both love Lord of the Rings haha we have truly seen all movies multiple times.

Books are also a long list - more so fantasy fiction for myself and autobiographies for Vasio.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We got married! Which was and is an amazing experience and we have paraglided across Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown.

Teach, Learn, Share

We follow a lot of backpackers on Youtube, love learning from them from the other side of the world, also enjoy watching polyglots because WOW! We also watch a lot of cooking shows from different countries because we love food and have been eating our way through South America!

I could teach you the basics of how to dance in different Oceanic cultures, Samoan, Tahitian, Hawaiian, Cook Island. I dance as a hobby with a group called Ura Tabu.

If we can bring kava over from NZ, Vasio can host a kava session (a natural drink from Fiji - also drank in most of Oceania with certain differences).

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can share our experiences of course, about our different cultures, languages, beliefs and so on. We are both super tidy haha so can share in doing chores. We love learning about others, sharing insights about life, and just doing fun activities together!
