About Me

Cheers, I am a German, studying Geology, hence the planet and am therefor keen to see my subject of interest from as many angels and perspectives as I can.

For me traveling means to exchange one´s everyday life for a completely different for a short while to collect as many storys and experiences as posible. Then again, storys and experiences are what life is for, isnt it? :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why not? :D

The typical couch surfing stuff, I guess...

Interests

Silly conversations, trekking tours, playing guitar, singing, history, mountaineering, horse back riding, Capoeira, books, languages, collecting stuff.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Rock, Reggeaton, Irish Folk. Also pop and other stuff I am too ashamed to mention.

Movies:
I know embarrassingly few movies. I got myself a Netflix account to change that, but I didnt use it yet... :D
Movies I didn´t watch include: Titanic, The Lion king, Back to the future, Pulp ficition and the Godfather.

Books:
Absolutely favorites: The hitch-hikers guide through Galaxy and the Gilgamesch epic (Some seriously ancient shit: when the Greeks wrote their stuff, this story was already about as old as the ancient Greek´s stuff is today.) My favorite authors would be Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (You may know the little prince, but check out his biography as an airplane pioneer!) , Gabriel García Márquez (Some Colombia dude) and Tolkien (You know him).

I own a cookbook written in first century AD.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Too many. Went on a mountain in Zermatt, Switzerland in winter, slept outside a night. Visited the Family of a friend in rural Sahara. Had an internship in Colombia (without fieldwork, due to guerilla activity). Was invited spontaneously to play along some street artists and waste the money in a Casino afterwards over a pick I could spare, Herded sheep at tierra del fuego from a horseback in the south of Chile. Hiked unmapped paths of andinian natives in its north.
Climbed an active 5800 meter volcano in Peru. Went hunting in the Peruvian amazon. (Did miss every single shot though. If the apocalypse comes, don't count on me.)

Teach, Learn, Share

I always like hosting people that have a plan of what they want to do and know their way around in foreign countries, as it is interesting to go with them and see my home from the perspective of a traveler.

Which is of course not supposed to mean that I wouldn't do the obligatory city tour with you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking, hanging out, city tours, partying: All the typical couch surfing stuff and whatsoever the day (or you) may bring
