About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be an excellent team player.

ABOUT ME

Currently working as a research assistant and teacher at INRS, UQAM (universities) and CSQ (union). I am passionate about philosophy, science, cognition/learning, society, culture, health, education and organizations. I like to work towards a healthier, livelier society, with a better sense of solidarity, responsability, generosity. I wish to constantly keep learning and I believe travelling and hosting travellers are great ways to do just that.

PHILOSOPHY

I guess like everyone else, my "philosophy" isn't fixed, but something dynamic, evolving. I'd say right now, it is mainly inspired by scientific thought, analytic philosophy, First Nations thought in general, taoism, anarchism. Systems thinking in general. Anything that helps in reflecting, questionning.

Those two quotes I heard and rewrote here in 2009. I believe they are still relevant and describe well how I approach things:

"This we know: the Earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the Earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself." - Si'ahl

"Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less." - Marie Curie

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Been a traveller and host for a long time, mostly a natural way of doing things. I believe CouchSurfing is a helpful tool for people to organize and meet. Makes life easier and creates opportunities for more fun, better lives.

***Just a quick message about CS:***
Everyone is welcome at our home and you do not owe us anything. We welcome you and are happy to share, we help travellers like we've been helped while travelling. We love and help travellers, just because: you don't need to feel like you should be this or that. Please, feel relieved and relaxed: you do not need to impress us and we will not try to impress you :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I read a lot. Love just about everything from Aletier 10, Lux, Écosociété. Literature, poetry, theater, tales, "fables", non-fiction, scientific papers of all kinfs, even kids books. :) Big fan of comedy, or satiric works of all kinds (John Oliver, Bill Hicks, Voltaire, Bulgakov, Molière, etc.). Authors Albert Camus, Daniel Quinn, François Rabelais, Normand Baillargeon, Tchouang-tseu and Ancient Greeks have all been personal favorites and changed my life the most while growing up. Recently, works of Dewey, Schön, Freire, Senge, etc., + sociology in general.

Love live music, mostly Québécois folk-trash music (Canailles, Bernard Adamus, La Gachette, Dreadnoughts, etc.), punk, reggae, rocksteady, chanson québécoise, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Digging deep into my own resources, under the rain, wind and loneliness of marathons, or in an improvised and unprepared climb of El Misti in Arequipa with my friend Dany. Very challenging, painful, yet amazing and powerful experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

Always happy to show people around town and talk about Québec's culture, events, peoples, places, bars, music, etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Time and love. Probably a few good beers as well (they're amazing around here). Good times, stories, discussions, meals, etc., everything that makes life good.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Peru, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
