About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi.
I'm Lisa, an ecologist who loves the small things in life (e.g. Euphrasia flowers or sand in a microscope). Apart from biology-related geekiness, I read mostly mid-19th century fiction, drink oolong tea, play swedish or chilean folk music and watch horror films from the 1950s-80s. I also enjoy normal activities.

I would call myself a social person. This mostly involves drinking, playing games, walking or hiking.

To mention a few, I reject authorities, capitalism, materialism, sexism and war. I fear climate change, right-wing extremism, western governments, deforestation, Google and alien invasions (kudos if you get it).
I don't think there is much hope for the future, but I find it comforting when people feel otherwise

...but don't get me wrong; I got a good heart and a charming smile.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed in Russia, Dublin, Buenos Aires, Mexico, Guatemala, Spain and Peru. I have hosted some. Only good experiences!
I've also gained friends from CS events and by sending out, or answering, requests to meet/travel .

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies by Stanley Kubrick, Akira Kurosawa, Satoshi Kon, Jack Arnold, Roman Polanski, Quentin Tarantino, Dario Argento, Jean-luc Godard, Hayao Miyazaki, Chan-Wook Park, Milos Forman, Guillermo del Toro, Terry Gilliam, Danny Boyle, Murnau, Tancred Ibsen and Takashi Miike.

I've read several works by Dostoyevsky, Gogol, Steinbeck, Ibsen, Tarjei Vesaas, Irvine Welsh, Turgenyev, Oscar Wilde, Tove Jansson, Hamsun, Hemingway, Bukowski, Agatha Christie and J.K. Rowling.

I've also enjoyed Mishima, "Vanity Fair", "Moby Dick", "Walden", Jonas Lie, Mark Twain, Dickens, "ficciones", "el coronel no tiene quien le escriba", Tolstoy, Poe, Leskov, "Dr. Zhivago", "the master and Margarita", Alexander Kielland, Fernando Pessoa, Roald Dahl and "the hobbit".

I mostly listen to hip-hop, classical, communist folk, old pop and rock music. My favorite artists are David Bowie, Kate Bush, Tom Waits, Cornelis Vreeswijk and Nina Simone.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

La Alhambra in Granada, driving through northern Italy's mountainous landscape, driving across Norway (many times from Oslo to Tromsø), hiking to Ciudad Perdida in Colombia, reaching the summit of Acatenango in Guatemala right when the volcano Fuego erupted, researching and cruising around the western coast of Spitsbergen, travelling with the trans-Siberian to Ulan Bator and chicken buses in Guatemala.

Drinking coffee in Colombia, eating fresh super spicy crabs with a local Mexican family, reading the Brothers Karamazov, hiking several mountains in Norway and drinking water from the streams, watching the Soviet War and Peace on 70 mm format, watching the 2005 Champions League final... that's enough for now!
