About Me

I'm Uwe, 48, and with me I have Pam, 46, Niclas, 21 and Miriel, 18 years old! We're a small, typical (and then again not typical 😁) German family located somewhere in the nowhere in the Westerwald (western woods) region of Germany

We haven't lived in bigger cities for ages and hence, we never hosted much (mostly stranded and desperate Cologne visitors for which claim though we gave them a great time 😅). Now we moved even further into the nothing and we don't have a comfy guest room anymore 🥺, but just a Couch...

But that being said: Whoever you are, we're quite likely interested in hosting you! If hosting doesn't work out, let's meet and talk and exchange...

Important:
1. 🇺🇦🕊☮️🇺🇦! До біса з Путіним 🖕!
2. Очень четко: к черту Путина🖕! Однако мы не будем отвергать русских, потому что они русские! Добро пожаловать в наш дом 🪆!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A general, deep and honest interest in other people, other cultures and other living philosophies. That goes for all four of us!
But I guess, I'm the most talkative 😅.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is the topic where the openness, curiosity and deep interest I have in ALL other areas disappears 😬. I'm deep into Heavy Metal and I don't usually listen to anything else.
I'm also regularly going to music festivals all over Europe.

Movies: Anything that tells a story and is not just a series of special effects

Pretty much all sorts of books, but esp. Terry Pratchett and Stephen King. Plus Calvin and Hobbes comics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Giving birth to two amazing kids :o). See for yourselves...

I walked the Shibuya crossing, took the most crammed Tokyo subways and worked the longest in a Japanese company. I visited a Foxconn production line (even though not for an Apple product) and experienced Huaqiangbei in Shenzhen. I watched the sunrise from Mount Sinai, slept a night under the stars in the White desert and got invited for a tea in a Zabbalin bar in Cairo's Garbage City. I ate Camel burger in Marrakech and visited some of my family in Khon-Kaen in the North-East of Thailand.

Not sure whether many people know what I'm talking about, but I also survived crowdsurfing a wall of death 😅

Me and the other three of us managed to find some truly amazing friends while hosting and surfing (and sometimes aside of it) and we're deeply grateful.

Teach, Learn, Share

There's nothing special actually, that I can teach 🤔. I'm an old man trying to pretent I'm still young which leads to some funny experiences I can share though 😅. Software and hardware development, product management, a special type of music, traveling, cultures and languages, ...
I might be able to help you in terms of a) planning and optimizing what they call a "Smart Home" and b) surfing a cleaner web leaving less footprints.

Me and all four of are eager to play funny board and card games!

Hablo un poco de español, ¡pero en general, necesita ayuda aprenderlo mas! ¡Y practica!

أريد أن أتعلم اللغة العربية!

What I Can Share with Hosts

If I have some of my family with me we love to cook for hosts. That unfortunately doesn't work for me solo as I'm the most terrible cook you can possibly imagine 🫣😓.

So the thing I can share best is perspectives, some stories and a deep interest in yours.
