About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Find all the answers. Go to all the concerts.
ABOUT ME
I'm originally from Southern California and I had been living in DC for the past several years. I just moved to Boston to start grad school so I'll be in the area the next couple of years.
PHILOSOPHY
If you're from the northern hemisphere, go to the southern and look up. If you're from the west, go to the east and look around. If you're from underneath, imagine yourself above and look down. Find all the differences, ask yourself why they're there, and never forget them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
In addition to surfing in most of the countries I've visited, I've attended events and gone on various outing to meet people in the CS community.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I surfed a lot in Western Europe while I studied abroad in Barcelona. I've also surfed in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, Mexico, and a couple of times in the U.S. And once in 2012 I met two girls from Japan on Couchsurf in DC and we all drove to Bonnaroo and camped there together! I've met so many great people through Couchsurf. It's honestly the funnest way to travel.
Interests
Concerts, languages (wanna friend me on Duolingo?), health and fitness, travel, comedy, dogs, and increasingly yoga and meditation
Music, Movies, and Books
A whooole lotta stuff
Music can be anywhere from Café Tacvba to Radiohead to Janelle Monáe, Gorillaz, Björk, Spoon, Joanna Newsom, CocoRosie, Massive Attack, Glass Animals, Gnarls Barkley, Hiatus Kaiyote, Beck, Alabama Shakes, and so on
Books: Kafka on the Shore, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Fast Food Nation, The Red Tent, I'm currently reading the Ice and Fire series in Spanish... wish me luck....
Movies: There are some movies I can watch whenever they're on. Usually it's The Dark Knight, Coming to America, My Cousin Vinny, Pride & Prejudice (A&E), The Ten Commandments, Jurassic Park, Skyfall... loads of others I'm sure.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Going scuba-diving and kayaking in Tanegashima and snorkeling in Okinawa.
Star gazing in a huge, windy sugar cane field.
Playing folk songs on shamisen in my town's summer festival.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you English, Spanish, and some Japanese. I can also teach you a song on shamisen! Shamisen is a three-stringed Japanese folk instrument, perhaps most comparable to a banjo but still very different.
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Korea, United Kingdom
Countries I’ve Lived In
Japan, Spain, United States
