About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live life in the present.

ABOUT ME

I am currently in grad school at the University of Oregon, studying physiology. School keeps me busy and I really enjoy it. When I'm not doing that, I enjoy experiencing new places and activities and meeting new people with diverse backgrounds and life experiences. I was born in the UK and spent a lot of time traveling around Europe while growing up. This fueled my travel interests and my love of being around different cultures.

PHILOSOPHY

Live in the present. The big picture will fall into place but the fleeting details will pass you by if you don't stop long enough to see them. The past is history and the future will work itself out. There is no point in worrying about either. Enjoy now!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined CS primarily in order to meet locals on my travels - I recently got back from traveling around Europe. I think this is by far the best way to travel and will continue to surf during future trips. After having such positive experiences while traveling, I'd like to be more involved in CS in Eugene too. I am very interested in meeting new people, so I would like to both host surfers and participate in CS events in Eugene.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Last summer, I surfed for the first time in Austria, Hungary, and the UK. It was a blast! Met some great people and had some wonderful experiences. Since getting back, I've hosted several times in Eugene and have only had positive experiences! I'm also in the process of planning a few international trips and definitely plan to couchsurf.

Interests

EXPLORING.

I really enjoy cities and all their quirks. Walking around and discovering hidden secrets on a warm summer evening. Wandering around museums and getting to know the local culture. Getting lost. This is one of my favorite things to do when traveling.

I love being in social settings of all sorts - anything from coffee to scenic walks to even clubs (although that one is pretty rare). Meeting new people. Please share your culture with me - anything and everything about it!

Almost anything outdoors. Oregon is the greatest place to be to experience nature! I enjoy cycling, hiking, camping, rafting, etc. I'm up for trying pretty much any outdoor activity. Unfortunately, I don't get too many opportunities with grad school right now, but please give me excuses to take some time off and go explore!

Music! Mostly on the listening side (live music and living room shows are very welcome), but also some on the playing side. I grew up in a very musical family and played multiple instruments growing up. My primary one now is voice - I LOVE to sing! I pull my violin out every now and then (I'm very rusty now, but still enjoy it) and I've been trying to pick up some guitar.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So far... Machu Picchu is hands down the most stunning and awe-inspiring place I've been.

As far as things I've done, skydiving and scuba are both pretty awesome. The fact that we can take our bodies to such extremes and explore the world from such a different standpoint is both amazing and exhilarating.
