About Me

CURRENT MISSION
We are one common humanity - just want to meet like minded people of all ages
ABOUT ME
I keep fit and healthy and walk every day and go dancing (mainly line which I sometimes also teach, and ballroom) a lot. Education is my passion and I keep busy and believe that an active mind and body are essential for good health.
PHILOSOPHY Life is basically a spiritual journey and we need to realize we were created by an enormous power that runs the universe. We can reach peace and contentment if we live the right kind of life but it means emphasizing our obligations to others rather than our own rights - sadly we seem to be going in the opposite direction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In New Zealand 90% of education spending goes into the classroom, in the USA it is 54%. Every school in New Zealand is a community school, is run through its Board by parents etc and is part of the local community etc, etc. If I had not existed It would be not quite like that. Huge over-simplification but also basically true (this isn't the place to elaborate). I did have something to offer. The UK was very kind to me but it wasn't going to happen there. I have spent a somewhat frustrating 30 years in the USA although San Diego is still my choice of where I want to live!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always happy to pass on what I have learned. It has been an interesting life from a drop out at 16 with no qualifications or confidence to a Professor of Education then giving that all up because of other influences. Our conscience will always tell us whether we are doing right or wrong. The main thing is to be comfortable within oneself and I know that means serving others and not only one's own desires. Indeed, I also know that a dependence on satisfying the material whether it be money, fame, fortune, material possessions, whatever are delusional as far as bringing peace and contentment to one's own mindset. An alternative road may be hard in many ways and of course, especially here in the USA :) I have always been an educator (teacher in the UK, then involved in teacher training in the UK, USA and New Zealand) and I will always be passionate about education. After all, children are very precious.
